Wednesday, April 22 is Earth Day, a day to inspire love and appreciation for our wonderful planet. It's a great time to learn about the environment and discover ways you can help protect it! At Only Natural Pet Store we take our environment into account in everything that we do. Here are a few of the initiatives we've undertaken to minimize our impact on the environment:
- We are 100% powered by wind energy. We purchase Green E Certified wind energy for all of our electricity.
- Our packaging aims to reduce waste and reuse resources. We reuse boxes and packing materials, and purchase only fully biodegradable, non-toxic packing peanuts made from cornstarch.
- We are working to become a Zero Waste company, which means that we strive to prevent waste, and reuse, recycle and compost as much as possible - including hard to recycle items like plastic wrap.
- We seek out manufacturing partners who share our environmental values. We are always on the lookout for new eco-friendly products from environmentally responsible companies.
- We calculate our Carbon Footprint, which measures the impact our activities have on the environment through the amount of green house gases produced. This Footprint helps us to determine ways we can reduce carbon emissions.
- We use only eco-friendly cleaning products, recycled paper, and other earth-friendly office supplies.
- We participate in our local Eco-Pass program which encourages employees to ride the bus to work.
- We use low-energy compact fluorescent bulbs and biodegradable shopping bags in our local Boulder store.
