Feeding Guidelines

Each dog is different and feeding amounts will vary. Use this chart as a guide and adjust amounts accordingly. Maintaining proper body weight contributes to longevity—a healthy dog is lean and athletic. Feed twice daily and provide fresh clean water at all times.

Optimal feeding amounts may vary with age, size and activity level. Please use the information below as an initial recommendation only.

Weight For Active Dogs For Less Active Dogs
4 lbs 1/2 cup/day 1/2 cup/day
11 lbs 1 cup/day 1/2 cup/day
22 lbs 1 1/2 cups/day 1 cup/day
44 lbs 2 1/2 cups/day 1 2/3 cups/day
66 lbs 3 1/2 cups/day 2 1/4 cups/day
88 lbs 4 1/4 cups/day 2 3/4 cups/day
110 lbs 5 cups/day 3 1/4 cups/day
132 lbs 5 3/4 cups/day 3 3/4 cups/day

When switching diets, it’s important to transition your dog as it takes time for his digestive system to adapt to the richer nutrient levels in ACANA. Over a 5-7 day period, gradually mix in ACANA, increasing the amount each day so that by day 7 you are feeding 100% ACANA.

I have tried a bunch of different foods. One of my dogs gets very sick on chicken flavor from Blue and Taste of the Wild, but Acana doesn't upset her at all. The dogs love all Acana flavors and I love that they make it daily from that days delivery of fresh, human grade ingredients.

Comments about Acana Singles Limited Ingredient Grain-Free Dry Dog Food:

We have had English springer spaniels over the years and they constantly battled skin and ear infections which is definitely from sensitivity to certain foods. We had purchased food from the vet clinic that they recommended to us but they still scratched and scratched and chewed thier paws, and their fur was dull and dry. With our new puppy, she is now 3yrs old, we heard about Acana and thought to give it a try. It's AMAZING! Her coat is beautiful, soft, silky, and best of all no scratching or ear infections! We went away for a weekend and accidentally left her food behind. Our host offered to feed her with thier dog food which wasn't Acana and low and behold by the time we got home her ears were smelly and she scratched continuously. After a week of her back on her own food Acana Duck and Bartlett Pear, she was as good as new. We will never let her have anything but Acana ever again!!
