What Is Kennel Cough?
Kennel Cough is a common ailment that affects pets, primarily dogs and cats, just as similar upper respiratory infections afflict humans. The scientific name for the most common form of the ailment is Infectious Tracheobronchitis. Forms of what is commonly known as Kennel Cough also go by the names Bordetellosis, or Bordetella. This disease is highly infectious, especially in dogs. Infected animals will shed the virus for 6 to 14 weeks after the infection symptoms have been resolved. The majority cases of kennel cough are caused by more than one infectious agent, usually a combination of viral and bacterial infections.
Kennel Cough symptoms include fever, nasal discharge, and a dry cough that sounds like something may be caught in the throat – often described as a “hacking” sound. Although Kennel Cough itself is not a serious disease, it is often distressing to see your pet suffer from this infection. In some cases, the ailment can lead to a more serious condition - pneumonia. In mild cases, your pet may remain alert and active, but in more severe cases, symptoms may include lethargy, fever, and loss of appetite. Severe cases of Kennel Cough usually occur in immuno-compromised or young animals.
Kennel Cough gets its name from its tendency to spread extensively in kennels where pets are boarded. It can also be readily contracted at shows, parks, or anywhere there is a gathering of dogs or cats in close space. Kennel Cough generally strikes when a pet is recovering from a viral or respiratory illness. Though usually a secondary invader, it can also be a primary cause of illness. The cough can last up to 6 weeks if left untreated.
Support your pet with Kennel Cough – Naturally and Effectively
To support your pet as it battles Kennel Cough, Amber Technology’s Kennel Koff is a natural and effective organic antibiotic designed to maintain your pet’s immune system as it overcomes the bacterial infection that causes the affliction. In most cases, Kennel Koff works within 48 hours, though the effectiveness of Kennel Koff depends on a 7-10 day continuous regimen. If you plan to board your pet, or foresee your pet being around other animals, you may want to administer Kennel Koff. Conventional treatments include antibiotics, bronchodilators, and cough suppressants. Kennel Koff is specially formulated to support your pet’s immune system in fighting bacterial infection, quelling post-infection inflammation, stimulating circulation, increasing immune function, and scavenging free radicals.
Vaccines are offered for Kennel Cough, but these preventative treatments rarely provide protection against contracting the disease. Additionally, the vaccine itself carries with it a risk of contraction of the disease.
Kennel Cough Imitators
It is difficult to distinguish Kennel Cough from the Canine Flu. The flu is primarily viral in nature, while Kennel Cough usually includes a complicating bacterial infection. Canine Flu often mimics the symptoms of Kennel Cough. The key difference in the case of the flu is excessive upper respiratory congestion. If you are unsure which ailment your pet has, contact your veterinarian.

For each one ounce bottle, the number of pets that receive a full ten day course of Kennel Koff is determined by calculating the total absolute dose based on weight (see nomogram).
The standard dosing of Kennel Koff is Administer orally 4 times daily for up 10 days as needed.
When treating more than one pet with the same dropper, it is necessary to assure sterile administration without carry over from pet to pet. The best way to assure this is to use the dropper only to transfer product to an individual sterile oral syringe—a different syringe for each pet. Those syringes should be sterilized after each use. Each pet should have its own syringe that is not shared with another pet. If a syringe is not readily available, then mix the product with a larger volume of flavored fluid (e.g. tuna or salmon water) that is to be lapped from a bowl. However, the use of a syringe assures a more accurate dose.
Long Term Use
Co-administration of Kennel Koff with Pet’s Cough & Cold Formula or other Amber Technology products are short term (10 days). However, there are clinical settings in which Kennel Koff is utilized beyond a ten day regime. Kennel Koff may be used for many months administering twice a day as directed to support immunity when dealing with a variety of conditions resulting in viral and bacterial symptoms.
Kennel Koff may be administered twice daily for up six months as needed. If administration of Kennel Koff beyond six months is mandated, a two week holiday (break) from product before re-starting is necessary. Kennel Koff can be administered via this six month rotation cycle for eighteen months.
For exposed pets: Administer the number of drops indicated on the weight chart 2 times daily, twelve hours apart. Follow this for 5 to 10 days or until the pet improves.
Keep Kennel Koff out of the reach of children under 16 years of age. The dosing guidelines must be followed exactly as written. Overdose of this product can cause serious side effects, to include irritability, change in behavior, reduced consciousness, vomiting and subsequent dehydration, stupor, coma, or death. One must not exceed the daily recommended dose. It is important to weigh your pet before administration of this product to obtain accurate daily dosing. Continuous use of Kennel Koff (administering four times a day, for ten days) without appropriate scheduled interruption is to be avoided, as it is associated with clinically significant listlessness, diarrhea and vomiting.. As with any nutraceutical or pharmaceutical product, Kennel Koff may cause an allergic reaction that may manifest as either skin redness, urticaria (hives), peri-orbital edema (swelling around the eyes), or as potentially serious respiratory dysfunction associated with laryngeal edema. Any suggestion of allergic reaction, even the most subtle, should alert the pet owner or veterinary health care provider to cease any further administration of Kennel Koff and to assess for interventional measures for such a reaction. One should have all of the appropriate emergency contact information readily available before starting this or any nutraceutical, pharmaceutical, or nutritional supplement. It is recommended that the pet owner, the novice in particular, discuss the use and side effect profile of this and any product with his or her veterinary health care provider. Co-administration of Kennel Koff with other agents must be done with caution. In the event of co-administration with other Amber Technology products, one must NOT mix Kennel Koff with Kocci Free, Urinary Tract Relief, HWF, Vibactra Plus, or with the original version of Vibactra. Co-administration with pharmaceutical antibiotics is considered safe in most instances, with rare exception.
