Barkwheats are all-natural buckwheat dog biscuits, hand-crafted in Stockton Springs, Maine. Barkwheats contain no grain (or gluten), corn, soy, sugar, salt or preservatives. They are baked with the highest quality ingredients like: Buckwheat, Chamomile, Seaveg, Ginger, Parsley, Pumpkin, Sage, Wild Blueberries, Lavender, Honey & Oil.
What is Buckwheat?
Despite the name, buckwheat is not a wheat, not a grain - it is a berry. Dogs with grain allergies are safe to eat Barkwheats. Buckwheat is also a very low glycemic food, meaning it will not spike the blood sugar when eaten, which can lead to ailments such as canine diabetes. Buckwheat contains magnesium, which relaxes blood vessels, improving blood flow and nutrient delivery thereby improving the cardiovascular system. Our buckwheat flour is milled by us on a buckwheat-only mill and we produce the biscuits in a dedicated bakery, which means that you can feel confident that there will be no cross-contamination with any grains in Barkwheats. H.B. Farms in Woodland, Maine grows organic buckwheat for Barkwheats.
Nearly 100% of Barkwheats' ingredients are sourced from neighboring farms in Maine. Only the ginger is sourced in Belize and carries the Fair Trade Certified label!
