Sergeant's Pet Care Products, in partnership with the National Wildlife Federation® (NWF), introduces the Protected Wildlife Animal Series dog toys that represent protected wildlife from four different geographical regions globally: Arctic Life, Marine Life, North American and Rain Forest.

The first four toys to be released include a Polar Bear (Arctic Life), a Green Sea Turtle (Marine Life), a Bison (North American) and a Jaguar (Rainforest). Each plush toy is packaged in recycled materials. The toys also come with an educational book with wildlife information and facts about each particular species, as well as the efforts underway to save the species and its habitat.

For each toy purchased, a donation will be made to directly support National Wildlife Federation's conservation and education programs.

• The Polar Bear, from the Arctic, is the world's largest land predator and the largest of the eight bear species. The world's population of polar bears may be as many as 25,000 but their numbers have been shrinking. The most immediate threats to the polar bear are the drastic changes taking place in their natural habitat. 
• The Jaguar, from the Rainforest region, is the largest cat in the Western Hemisphere and the third largest (after the lion and tiger) in the world. Like all of the world's big cats, jaguars have suffered the loss of their hides and their habitat. Too many have been killed for the fur trade, and expanding logging and development have destroyed the wild lands they need for survival. Fortunately, conservationists are fighting back. They have preserved safe sanctuaries in some places and are working to do the same in others. 
• Bison, also known as Buffalo, are the largest land animals in North America. They feed mainly on grasses and in winter they use their broad heads as "snowplows" to reach their food. Millions of bison once roamed across grasslands from Alaska to northern Mexico and as far east as the Atlantic Coast. Now, large free-ranging herds are only found in areas of the Canada and in Yellowstone National Park.
• The Green Sea Turtle, which spends its entire life at Sea, represents the Marine Life. These gentle reptiles have been heavily exploited by humans for food, and their habitat has become so degraded that they are listed as endangered. Even their name reflects this exploitation - the species is named for the color of its flesh.
