Comments about Nature's Variety Grain-Free Instinct Frozen Raw Food:

My 17 year old chihuahua is the pickiest eater. She did not like Honest Kitchen, did not like Blue Buffalo, and had to be forced to eat because she didn't like any foods I got. She will not eat kibble at all. I got this and she LOVES it! She eats so fast and is feeling much better. She loves her food now and looks forward to it. Since she is small the cost is not too bad.

Comments about Nature's Variety Grain-Free Instinct Frozen Raw Food:

My dog Lola is a 5 year old Jack Russel/Rat Terrier mix. She is 14 lbs, healthy, and very active.

Let me first say that I'm not a person who goes online to write reviews about anything, but for this I had to! Last year my dog started having terrible itching problems. Red belly, licking feet, scratching behind the ear etc. It was not fleas. I was convinced it was a food allergy. I did quite a bit of research and we went through a lot of trial and error before she started doing well on Blue Buffalo Basics turkey recipe. She liked it but it didn't have the protien content I wanted. Then I found NV instinct salmon formula. We transitioned over to that and she remained itch free. For the last 2 years I've been switching between Instinct salmon and Instinct lamb. These foods are great.

I decided what the heck, I've read a lot of good stuff about the NV frozen raw, lets try it... WOW!!! It wasn't even a week before her coat just turned silky smooth! She's been on it about a week and a half now and no itching, no pink belly so we're going to stay on it. Gave her the weekly bath Sunday and there was about 1/3 as much fur caught in the drain afterwards as there has been every week for the past few months. Shedding much less already! She LOVES the food... gobbles her 3 medallions up in seconds every morning and night. She is more energetic and is definitely noticeably happier. I am SOLD! Sure its a little pricey but its not like the food she's been on was cheap, just a few dollars more per week. I could see where the price may seem outrageous for large dog owners. For feeding, I just throw her thawed medallions on a cheap paper plate, a few seconds later when she's done I just throw the plate away, no mess!

Comments about Nature's Variety Grain-Free Instinct Frozen Raw Food:

We have 3 Chinese Crested Hairless Dogs, 1 Sphynx, and 1 Regular Cat, our oldest 13 yrs. and smallest 4.7lbs Crested had several surgeries due to cancer and went to just under 4lbs this caused him several problems the worse caused his kneecap to move far from his knee. We needed him to gain muscle mass and he needed a good high protein diet. He is not a big eater and lately has been eating less, when we gave him this food it was like he was a kid in a candy shop! This food plus the great care his doctor has given him and the hours of PT has given him an extension on his life and allowed us to enjoy him longer.
As for the others, it is a very easy way to give our other Non-fur kids and fur kid a high quality food that is good for them, that has helped them stay in shape. Another of our Crested had her back broken (before we got her) and this food is perfect for her for many reasons.
I would highly recommend this food for any pet young, old, healthy, special needs, or almost any needs. It is expensive but if you can and it is right for your pet try it you will be amazed!!!!

Comments about Nature's Variety Grain-Free Instinct Frozen Raw Food:

I have a pit mix that has been on one antibiotic or another for various infections for about 8 months. He has switched through multiple types of grain free hypo allergenic diets, and I can't even pin down what is bothering him. The vet is stumped and he kept getting sick. After alot of reading, I finally decided to switched to Nature's Variety. They have a good reputation and I am not prepared to feed raw on my own just yet. It is expensive, but my dog has been antibiotic free for 3 weeks which is the longest stretch in 8 months. He used to scratch his ears constantly and now its only once every few days. His gas is also completely gone and even on the grain free diet, it was a killer. I am really hoping this helps him out in the long run, but in the short term, he is the healthiest he has been in nearly a year. I plan on giving him a solid 3 months before I make an permanent decision, but I will never ever go back to dry food again.

Comments about Nature's Variety Grain-Free Instinct Frozen Raw Food:

I have been feeding Nature's Variety foods to my dogs singer 2001 and all of them have thrived on it. I fed a homemade diet for several years, but when one of my dogs went into acute liver failure (from a cleaning product he'd gotten into) my vet suggested a raw food diet. As I had 4 small dogs the medallions were perfect. The dog with liver failure survived and lived to within 3 weeks of his 17th birthday. And while we lost one to cancer at 12 the other two lived to be 14 and 17. Throughout their senior years their blood work was consistently right down the middle and my vet contributed their overall good health to the raw food diet. I now have 2 new little guys and one new not so little girl and Nature's Variety Raw Chicken is our mainstay. As we do travel some now I supplement with Nature's Variety Kibble and canned when we are on the road. As for the expense - I figure I make up for it by lower vet bills.

Comments about Nature's Variety Grain-Free Instinct Frozen Raw Food:

Other pre-formed raw foods (patties) were messy and had to be divided up into appropriate sized meals for my small dog. She was also picky about eating large chunks of raw meat and/or would drag it around the kitchen, creating unsanitary conditions. This food looks like kibble and is stored in the freezer until ready to use. My dog ADORES this food! After a month, she is leaner, her coat is glossier and her poo barely smells. She also poops way less than she did on kibble (Acana) and never has gas or smelly-gland issues anymore.

Cats and dogs like it. Dogs gobble it up, but a bit too expensive for two big dogs, but am feeding my three cats and only after one week I see that their coats are really silky, less pooh and less smelly poo. Plus one cat was getting fat, and now she is looking near normal.

Comments about Nature's Variety Grain-Free Instinct Frozen Raw Food:

I have a special needs cat. Her body can not process kibble or canned foods at all so she would have constant chronic diarrhea. We lost one cat due to this issue so I wasn't going to loose another. I put her on this food and BAM instant change. Took about two weeks for the complete change to happen, but her diarrhea was gone. Her vision is improved, before she had depth perception issues and would fall off anything (even while sitting). Her coat is fantastic, she's so fluffy and soft now, her eyes are bright and clear, her teeth are white and gums are healthy, her activity level has even increased.

I'm not a personal fan of the price, but for my little girl it's worth it.

Comments about Nature's Variety Grain-Free Instinct Frozen Raw Food:

The patties are harder to thaw and serve - I have to separate the whole bag before I freeze it, cut each patty into quarters and bag them separately because each cat only eats half patty per day. The medallions are very easy to thaw and serve because of the small portions - one medallion a meal is all one cat needs.
One of my kitties is allergic to something in all the Instinct Raw food he tried (chicken & beef) - they caused very bad chin acnes. No problem on my other kitty. She likes it a lot and cleans her bowl fast. Taste-wise... I think she prefers beef better than chicken. The most significant improvement is litter box related - poops are smaller in size and overall a lot less smelly.
