Description
Surrounded by Atlantic, Pacific and Arctic oceans and home to vast freshwater rivers and lakes, Canada’s marine harvest is perfectly suited to the Orijen nutritional philosophy of high-protein, low-carbohydrate diets made with maximum inclusions of fresh regional ingredients. High-protein, low-carbohydrate and grain-free Orijen 6 Fish replicates the same rich balance of meats, fruits, vegetables and grasses that dogs would encounter in a wilderness setting, but with single-source protein from fish and single-source carbohydrate from potato.
Made with the highest possible inclusions of human-grade fish ingredients (70%) - including fresh Canadian salmon, northern lake whitefish, lake trout, walleye, freshwater cod and herring - Orijen 6 Fish is literally bursting with highly-palatable and highly-digestible fish proteins, low temperature cooked at 90C to preserve their natural goodness.
Grain-free and very low in carbohydrate, each Orijen 6 Fish kibble is gently infused with fresh (not rendered) marine-source omega-3 fatty acids that are rich in EPA and DHA to support peak conditioning.
Hand-harvested sea vegetables from Canada’s nutrient rich tidal range - including kelp, Irish moss, dulse and bladder wrack - are rich in essential B vitamins, contain 44 trace minerals including zinc, manganese, selenium, and provide a natural yet balanced source of usable iodine.
Mirroring the instinct of wild canines to forage for grasses and weeds for medicinal purposes, Orijen’s prairie-grown botanicals include chicory and licorice root, sweet fennel, calendula flowers and peppermint leaf to help protect the liver, tone the digestive tract and support a healthy immune response.
About Champion Petfoods, maker of Orijen
Unlike the marketing and multinational companies that sell (but don't actually make) today's commercial pet foods, Champion Petfoods stands apart as a family-owned and operated pet food maker with a 25 year tradition of quality. Champion's mission is to product world-class pet foods from fresh, regional ingredients.
Produced exclusively in their own award-winning facilities in Alberta, Canada, the Acana brand pet foods are sold in 45 countries and are certified by the Canadian Government to meet every known international pet food regulation or standard.
As a "boutique" producer, Champion doesn't use commodity ingredients from suppliers they don't know and will never meet. Instead, they focus upon world-class ingredients raised or fished within the region by people they know and trust, and that are delivered to their manufacturing facility fresh each day.
