We had two retrievers, and added a newcomer (rescue) who made everybody else nervous at meal time. All gulped their food and did impersonations of vacuum cleaners. We got worried about the related health issues to this. First found a plastic bowl at Petsmart with 4 dividers that actually slowed down the newcomer even more, but it was harder to clean and he eventually chewed the legs off. This bowl is a heavy stainless, with good slip prevention on the bottom. It is easier to clean but doesn't slow them all down quite as much as the plastic one did. For a while I was hand washing, but after a few days, I decided to put them in the dishwasher. One came out with quite a nick on it, even though it was well above the rotating arm (still not sure what caused the nick). [...] The ultimate slow-down bowl would be of this material, non slip and a few more "roadblocks" to fast eating, like the plastic one offered. However, the more roadblocks the harder to clean. With three big dogs eating twice a day, these bowls serve the purpose.

Definetly this product is all that it claims. When you have an older pet, it is important that they eat slow in order to have a good digestion, this has helped by 16 yrs old Westie a lot!!

Acid relux has improved. Ate so fast that many times after a meal he would throw up!!!! Took a little time for him to get used to eating around the middle!!!!

My 3 1/2 year old Shih Tzu used to "enhale" his food and water. I bought these bowls (small size) and the raised middle really slowed his eating and drinking down to a normal pace. It's good for wet or dry food. I use raw dog food (wet) and just spread it around the ring.
The bowl has helped cut down on the belches and burps after eating and reduced coughing after drinking.
I like them because they are stainless steel too! Easy to clean! There is a rubber ring on bottom to prevent slipping.
If your dog eats too fast, definitely get the bowls. They have different sizes based on size of your little (or big) guy/gal. Definitely worth it!
