Taurine is a conditionally essential, sulfur-containing amino acid found in the tissues of most animal species. It is not incorporated into proteins, but is found free in many tissues. Taurine is involved in a number of physiological processes, including bile acid formation for fat digestion, fluid regulation, detoxification of environmental toxins, regulation of cellular calcium, and regulation of nerve excitability. The liver combines bile acids with taurine, which results in increased cholesterol solubility and excretion. Animals that are taurine deficient may be more susceptible to tissue damage from environmental pollutants such as aldehydes, chlorine, and amines.

  • Helps maintain already normal cardiac rhythm
  • Essential for heart muscle function
  • Supports optimal liver and gallbladder function
  • Promotes healthy vision

Taurine is the most abundant amino acid in the heart. Taurine has been shown to improve nitric oxide production in the vascular endothelium, which is essential to optimal blood flow, maintaining already normal blood pressure, and overall cardiovascular functioning. Taurine acts as an antioxidant as well, inhibiting LDL cholesterol oxidation.

Available in 90 Vegetarian Capsules.

          Comments about Thorne Research TaurineVET:

I take capsule apart & mix into food. Must not have taste or smell because cat still eats food (this doesn't happen with other supplements). Noticed positive difference in fur with in a couple days of adding it to her diet. Cat is 18 and has moved into not eating catfood, I am feeding her grilled talapia, people tuna and baby food. Was worried about no taurine in this diet so added this product.

            Comments about Thorne Research TaurineVET:

Wonderful product. My elderly cat (14) is beginning to have seizures. Adding a little Taurine to his canned food and/or ham baby food--all natural--no onions--- with a crushed up "Super Daily" Only Natural Pet feline daily multi-vitamin ---seems to really help him not only have less seizures, but also recover from them more quickly. It gives him his energy back and helps keep his weight around 11 pounds.

Love this product. -- Plus, my cats (2 of 3) do not even detect the taste.

Thorne is a top of the line brand that makes high quality stuff. I give taurine to all my 8 cats, it gives them so much energy and they're in better moods. You don't have to worry about giving too much taurine isn't store by cat's body, their bodies don't make it. My 12 years old black cat is very playful and social when he takes his taurine.

                    Comments about Thorne Research TaurineVET:

Fabulous product! I cannot recommend this enough. Taurine is an essential amino acid which cats naturally get when they're eating raw meat. But with canned food and kibble (both of which are cooked), taurine is depleted and must be added back into the diet. Pet food companies do this, but there is much controversy whether the quantities they add are adequate, as cats digest only a small portion of the taurine they ingest.

I open these capsules and sprinkle them on my cats' food when I feed (a canned/raw food combination diet). They eat the taurine with no fuss, and one of my boys is pretty fussy by nature. Making sure this nutritional base is covered gives me added peace of mind.
