My cat won't eat wet food, so I couldn't use the glucosamine sprinkles. This worked - 2 treats per day, and my aging cat is more agile.
I started feeding 4 treats a day about three months ago. My 11 year old male cat was starting to slow down, showing a little weariness in the front legs when eating from a low bowl, etc. He's been jumping and playing a LOT more in the last month. In fact, last night, at 12:33 am, when I have to get up at 4 am, he kept me awake playing with a mousie on the hardwood floors. Bounce, bounce, pounce, bang, happy, active cat!!!
My "little old lady" kitty has been suffering from the aches and pains of age (she's 14 years old). She had recently stopped being able to jump on the couch or bed by herself. After one treat of Hip Action a day, for two weeks, her back legs are stronger and she jumps on the couch again with ease! Also, I've noticed she doesn't limp as much when she first wakes up. Hip Action is great!
I decided to try this for two of my aging cats. My ragdoll especially seemed to be having some difficulty with his gate at times. The Zukes seemed to make a difference and he loved this treat. It's soft enough for him to chew easily and he also is eager to get it. When at one point I ran out of it I decided not to reorder because the package is small, I wasn't sure it had made much difference, and also it is fairly costly. I stopped using Zukes for about three months. I have since resumed ordering it (several packets at a time) as I am now sure I again see an improvement in his agility and comfort level.
If you can believe it my 11 year old cat tore her ACL about 5 months ago. My vet reccomended that we not do surgery. He said cats are extremely resilient and that she would learn to compensate. He did say she would have arthitis and she is on a daily glucosamine suppliment. These treats are great and she really likes them! She is usally EXTREMELY finiky. I also have to say my vet was right, she has recovered well, you can barely notice her limp.
My eldest cat is still (after six years) not a huge fan of his raw food diet. The good news is that he loves Hip Action, so I hide them in his meat and he searches for it while eating away at the raw meat. Prteey tricky! But it works!
I have a 14 yr female with sore back legs.. stiff when getting up and walking around. After a couple of weeks her ability to walk and stalk is NOTICABLY better. She allows combs and massage now, which she hasn't for months, and she runs through the yard like she's two. As a side note, she is also alot less crabby with the others.
In all the years I have had cats, I had never encountered one with hip dysplasia before.
Clara was 7 months old when she came to live with me after being in a cat shelter since kittenhood. Within a short period of time, it became obvious that she could not jump as well as our other cat. At first I thought she just wasn't as athletic as the other cat, but then I noticed that her hip was going out when she tried to jump up or when she ran fast. She'd be on her feet one minute and then on her side the next. Within days, she was getting worse and becoming more sedentary.
I did some research and discovered that certain breeds tend toward hip dysplasia -- something I had heard could occur in dogs, but never realized also could affect cats. Surgery is very expensive and puts the cat through much suffering. As far as I was concerned, it wasn't even an option. I proceeded to look for a natural supplemental alternative because that is what I do for myself when I have an ailment.
That's how I found Hip Action and it has been a miracle for Clara. She gets two, 2 times a day, and she loves them. But more importantly, literally within a few days, Clara's hips were no longer going out. It is now more than three years later and her hips have not gone out since we started giving her Hip Action everyday!
Today, she is a healthy, happy cat who jumps up on the kitchen counter -- even though she's not supposed to. She and the other cat chase each other around and she has no trouble keeping up. It's a great product that has given Clara her quality of life back!
