I had a flea & tick infestation & tried some natural products but that didn't work. I resorted to a chemical product to stop the problem. Then I got these collars for my dog & the cats. No more fleas or ticks until after about 5 months. The collars are good for 3. I saw a few ticks in the house. I got another collar just for the dog. I haven't seen a tick since & there are no fleas. I also use the Herbal Defense Shampoo & Conditioner on the dog. Awesome products.
I am using this product on my new 9 week old puppy. I have also used it on my mother's kitten. The product smells great. No harsh chemical odors and it seems to do a great job at repelling fleas.
Thanks
I put this collar on my newly rescued dog the moment i met him. He was already covered in insecticide, but i wanted extra but healthy ( as I have house cats) protection. I live in the city, and my last dog never got a flea to my knowledge. So I figured this collar would protect from the possible flea. I think he got his new fleas when playing in a dog park... possibly after his initial (pre adoption) chemicals wore off. So when i noticed this, I added a chemical flea/tick collar. Neither worked... I would see fleas walking right beside these collars on his neck.
He Is a Big Dog from bad circumstances. So I will not say that this wont work for everyone. He obviously needs more advanced treatments which he is now getting.
Side note about chemical collars... My cats contracted some of his fleas, and so I bought them chemical collars... they have not worked either.

have 2 cats and collar doesn't keep a flea off of them. disappointed, as i don't like to use front line or chemical based flea treatments.
...save your money...you have a better chance of picking the fleas off yourself with a comb!
It did smell great, and my dog didn't mind wearing it, but unfortunately it didn't discourage ticks from attaching to my dog at an alarming rate. It may work well for repelling insects other than ticks though I wasn't able to test for this.

Of course the Cats hated it because of the smell so it was a little hard for them to get used to. These are indoor only Cats but am sure we are tracking the eggs in from outside. I have still found live fleas on the Cats, not many, but hiding around the tail area. Not sure this product is as effective as it claims but was willing to try anything to avoid using chemicals on them.
I used the collar on my cat. It seems to be working great... although it seems a little strong for her at first. I just removed the collar for half a day and then put it back on her. Now after about a week... no problem and she smells great. I'm using the collar for a condition of skin mites. The mites are moving around and causing my cat to scratch some... but all in all... they are decreasing. I can see progress and we are happy about that.
I refuse to use the chemicals on my dog and I had tried many horrible smelly things to keep ticks off. I finally came across this collar, and it really works! I also feed my dog the garlic chews with brewers yeast, chicken liver etc. so it might be the combination I dont' know because I started using both at the same time. Also, this collar smells o.k. which is a big plus!
These do aid in the battle against ticks in northern MN. I do not feel as if I am poisoning my pets and can still scratch their collar area without feeling contaminated myself.
I have three cats and I've tried the different products for fleas and ticks on the market. Thanks to Castor & Pollux, I've found the best remedy so far. What's even better is not having to worry about any toxicity. Although, like all fleas and tick remedies, it's not 100% preventitive, it's pretty darn close! This is my second year using it and I'm very satisfied.
It smells good and it works!
The collar keeps the fleas off but still having trouble with ticks. It's still much better than the chemical products on the market.

LOVE the smell!! Not sure how effective it is, but i will order it again, just for the aromatherapy!! it makes the room smell good, the dogs smell good, the rv smell good./
Love it.
my arm was eaten alive by ticks one night as my cat sleeps in my arm so I ordered this in a hurry and it worked right away. [...] I think it smells great and it works. I am sort of surprised as how easy this was and how I didn't have to resort to chemicals and poisons like my neighbors do. I love the color and how easy it was. It could be more flexible ,softer against my cats neck. I used herbal powder first while I was waiting for the collar to arrive. I didn't like using the powder. The collar is much better.

Bought this product for the first time last year.(2007)
Found it to be very effective for my Westie.
No fleas or ticks at all.
Purchased 3 more to cover the entire year in 2008.
Love the smell and love that I am not using chemicals on my dogs. Great for spring and winter, but I might need to use more tactics to combat these pests in the summer months when they are more aggressive.
I think this product is great! I will continue to purchase and use it for my animals.
I use the herbal flea collar because the other ones made my cat sick for 2 weeks. But they were effective - no fleas. Our cat lives outside most of the time and still has fleas even with the herbal flea collar I'll continue to use it because he doesn't mind it, it doesn't make him sick and I feel it must be doing something to repel fleas.
Tried this product mainly to repel fleas, so far so good after 4 months. Smells really good too, like they just got a bath!
There are more ticks here in Germany and this season we did not need the chemical flea/tick medication, since I discovered this wonderful collar
I was disappointed by the strength of this smell. It was irritating to my dog as well. He kept trying to bury his nose in things and it was causing me to feel sick to my stomach so I could not leave it on him given the consideration of how much more sensitive his nose is. I had to put it out of the house and it is still outside. Perhaps now I would be able to use it....
Not a bad smell. The cat seems to enjoy wearing it.
I try to use natural/organic products as much as I can. When my cat started coming inside with ticks, I got this product for him, and after that, no more ticks. He managed to lose his collar once, and I immediately ordered 2 more, just in case...
I purchased these collars with the full belief that a professionally marketed product like this would have been thoroughly tested and guarantee the results necessary for conteracting a flea infestation. Of course the collars have a pleasant fragrance and certainly it's desirable to have something natural working, but I have had to resort to poison to help my kitties. There's got to be something better and more effective.

This collar has been wonderful for our long haired indoor/outdoor cat. I don't like to use squeeze on pesticides, and only one of our three cats has fleas, so I decided to try this collar on him. I've only found one or two fleas on him since I put the collar on him a month ago. The smell is strong, but it's nice -- very fresh and herbal, much better than chemicals! -- and he doesn't seem to mind it at all. He seems much more comfortable and he's now able to sleep for long periods (like any cat should!) without waking up to scratch. This collar is great, but good nutrition is probably the most important element to helping pets resist fleas. We put all our pets on a natural diet (Wellness, Prairie, Innova) about four years ago, and they have been amazingly healthy since. I also highly recommend Only Natural's Super Daily Vitamins + Skin & Coat, which we give to our cats and dog. After using it for about a month we saw an amazing difference in our pets' coats.
Extremely pleased with this product ---my dogs have remained flea and tick free through this entire season and they are outdoors alot!!
My dog was scared of the strong smell for a while (he's scared of anything new), but I think he has gotten used to it. So far, I haven't seen any fleas or ticks, but he usually gets ticks in the early fall, so we will have to see what happens then.

Even though these collars have not been
very effective on my dogs. The seem to have worked pretty good on my cats.
Although my cats didn't have as many as the Dogs did when I applied the collars to them.
I have 3 samll Red collars for my dogs. The dogs were already infested pretty good with fleas this year. Because of the volumn of rain we have had it is a bad year for fleas here in our part of Texas. I really haven't noticed the collars for the little dogs doing anything to make the fleas get better. We are trying to use sulfur and demacius earth on our yard and their bedding to see if this will slow them down.
Great product! Seems to be working without irritating my dogs skin. The odor is not bad after the first day. Great all natural product!! Will continue to buy this.
a really great product. no ticks since we put in on Oslo and he used to get as many as 5 in one weekend even while using Frontline. Now we use the collar and Frontline and haven't seen a tick in months. really happy with the results!

After wearing this collar for a month my cat almost died of flea infestation. I took him to a holistic vet who said he's never seen such a bad case of fleas. He said herbal collars are worthless and told me to use Advantage which is less toxic than Frontline. My cat seems to be bouncing back no thanks to "Play Dead" flea collar! I want "Real Dead" thank you.

I really like the smell that this collar gives off but it does not repel fleas.
I have two large dogs. One of them is sensitive and she was not comfortable with the strong odor of the collar. My other dog is doing great with it.
Am thrilled with this product. I have found with this collar my JRT's flea problems are much less. I also use this in conjunction with all in one flea remedy and a tea tree oil shampoo. Here in coastal GA it is tough with the fleas, but this combination really works.
I have had the collar on both of my golden retrievers for the last 5 weeks. I did find one tick on one of the dogs, ironically, it was right next to the collar! However, this is the only tick we've seen so far and our dogs are outside all the time! We typically use the herbal defense flea and tick spray in combination with the collar. I would reccommend that product also if your animal spends an extensive amount of time outdoors.
We have a small Bichon and go to a lakehouse surrounded by woods. Since she reacts to Frontline chemicals, I tried this "Play Dead" collar, desperate to find something to help with flea and tick prevention. This collar not only works supremely well, the minty smell is MUCH better than all the chemicals that used to go into a small dog's body. I highly recommend this product to anyone-we have no ticks or fleas anywhere after using it over 2 months with many walks in the woods AND no reactions from our dog. She's happy and so are we! I am re-ordering another one.
my 12 y.o. 8 pound dog vomited when I put this collar on him. We tried the next day same thing. He is very sensitive to almost anything we give him. From Heartguard to Frontline to now this. He will have to just be shampooed then and stay in during flea season, except for twice daily walks
My inside/outside cat seems to like to visit our neighborhood fox dens. Fleas/ticks are only a problem about 1 month a year where I live, but foxes carry these pests year around. In desperation last year I used Advantage - it worked, but made my cat very sick for about 2 weeks after applying. I held my breath until the first "varmit" appeared and have tried your collar - he seems not the least bit affected, but the bugs have disappeared.
