This stuff really does work. I have a dog and use it after baths. The irritation it causes on cats is unfortunate, but it works well with no irratation for dogs.
I rather like the smell of this product. I didn't use it on my cat but rather as a preventative use. We brought some fleas home in our luggage from a trip where there was a flea infestation... Unpacking, I found some dead fleas and saw 2 live ones. I sprayed this all over my luggage and I used the powder on the carpet. So far, I haven't seen anymore and my cat is unaffected so far too, although I did put a flea collar on her as another preventative measure.
we used the product as directed and moments later our cat was scratching and flinching with irritation. we washed her once and she still scratched, clumps of her fur fell off. We washed her again and she was shivering. She seems to be scratching a little less but the oil scent is still very strong and her fur still appears oily. This seems like a terrible product. I will never NOT buy anything from our vet in the future.
This stuff does have a strong smell, but it is worth it compared to putting the toxic stuff from the vet on your pet. That stuff causes cancer..so it is up to you, live with the smell or give your pet cancer.
I did find that the application tubes are too strong for my one dog, it did burn his hair and he had a bald patch, but I just switched to the spray and he is fine with it.
As with anything, you may need to experiment a bit.
I would never again use the stuff from the vet. I own shar peis and they have enough problems not to deal with getting cancer from something like that.
Use of this product has been a nightmare. We applied as directed and tried to cover most of the body and used our hands to brush back the fur to let the product get to the skin. The result: Our cat literally looks like a victim of an oil spill. Have you seen pictures of animals in the aftermath of the Exxon Valdez disaster? That is exactly the state of our poor cat. We've shampooed him once and he still is oily, smelly, miserable, and leaves a stain everywhere he lays. He is shivering from the cold and cannot clean himself. And he is traumatized by the bath. Also, our house stinks. On top of that, the pump spray failed and we had to transfer the liquid to another spray bottle. At least this crumby product kills fleas, probably by oily suffocation. Avoid. Avoid. Avoid!
I'm surprised there are so many bad reviews. I have 8 dogs and this product works very well for them with no irritation occurring. The smell is strong but that's probably why it works so well. All my dogs are 50+ lbs.
This product should be pulled off the market. Every review written on this site shows how terrible this product is.
Maybe the product gets rid of the fleas, but your pet will suffer a lot. I used the product on my cat, and I felt so bad seeing my cat suffering. I washed the product off, but one bath was not enough. At least five baths were necessary to take the product off. Now, my cat is so sad, and he even looks afraid. Please do not use this product.

i used this product on my cat and her four kittens and now their hair is flaky and hair is falling out in clumps. it left them oily and greasy and obviously caused discomfort to them. i would never reccommend this product to anybody.
