I dont know why I waited so long to try this. I have two rat terriers; one with skin allergies. I wanted to try a raw diet for her because I didnt want to give her steroids every time her allergies acted up. Well since her diet was changing, I went ahead and changed the male's as well. It has been a positive change. I use the medallions. They are happier dogs, anxious for their meals. Never got sick. And their coats....unbelieveably shiny. I strongly recommend anyone who is skeptical, dont be! I wouldnt ever go back to other foods containing fillers.
This is great stuff! I have been feeding a raw diet to my Shelties for 12 years. I've weaned 3 litters of puppies onto raw and they have all gone on to lead healthy, active lives. For 8 years I made my own raw. My dogs were healthy, no problems. Then Nature's Variety became available in my area. I started using it and saw that it was as good as what I had been feeding and had more variety than I could ever provide. I have seen this diet help dogs with problems ranging from allergies and thyroid problems to even cancer. If you build a house with poor materials, the house will not stand very long. It will be prone to problems, ailments. BUT if you build that house with the best bricks and wood, that house will stand alot longer and have less if any problems. Same goes for living things. Feed raw especially if you are active with your dogs.
i have two dogs, a 14 year old Beagle/Shep mix and a 10 month old Toy Fox Terrier. my 14 year old is very healthy, eating Innova most of his life, but i wanted to get the puppy on raw food to try to ensure a long, healthy life as well. i transitioned him on raw food a couple of months ago and he is doing great on it. no side affects or loose stools and he loves the flavor. the medallions are easy to use, i just throw a few in a bowl in the fridge each day so they can thaw and then they're ready to feed. i wish i could find the small medallions in bulk.
I have tried so many foods in the past year....prescription diets(recommended by vet) premium diets (recommended by pet store) suppliments and drugs, due to wt loss and chronic diarrhea. Within the week of starting this food, the stools are tiny and hard, he's looking better, happier and more active.
MY ONE YEAR OLD GERMAN SHEPHERD DOG STARTED GETTING VERY ITCHY AND WAS STARTING TO GET HOT SPOTS FROM THE IRRITATION.I CHANGED FROM KIBBLE TO RAW AND WITHIN A FEW WEEKS I NOTICED THE ITCHING SUBSIDED. THE AMOUNT OF FECES WASTE HAS DRAMATICALLY BEEN REDUCED ALSO. I JUST TAKE A CHUBB OUT OF THE FREEZER AND LET IT THAW OVERNIGHT IN THE REFRIGERATOR. MY DOG PUTS HIS HEAD IN THE BOWL AND DOESN'T LIFT IT UP UNTIL THE BOWL IS LICKED CLEAN.
My three senior cats, all with health challenges, love the chicken and turkey and the organic turkey. They did not like the beef. I have not tried the other varieties. It is easy. I put enough for the next day in a plastic freezer box in the fridge and sort of mush it up before putting it in their bowls. It is just as easy as canned and much better for my cats.
Great product - with 5 cats feeding canned and dry food was a nightmare - plus they were all over weight and throwing up. After losing a 4 year old cat to kidney problems we decided to try raw - a great improvement with no health issues since they began the diet. We love the automatic delivery process since the only place for us to get the raw food was miles away from home, it saves time and money. We have recommended this product and this site to all our friends with cats & dogs.
After a lot of reading about pet food and nutrition we determined that raw food was the way to go for our Bichon puppy. We tried raw kibble products, but ended up going totally raw and grain free. Our formerly picky eater now eats his dinner in less than one min. His breath is great, his coat is thick and glossy and he is a ball of energy. I like to think that it is due to the food, but maybe it is because he is still a puppy. We love it and often joke that our puppy eats better than we do.
I started transitioning my cat to raw food after he was diagnosed with FeLV and FIV. It cleared up his chronic diarrhea immediately. The transition from commercial to raw was a challenge, but if you are determined and use recommended methods (fasting the cat, mixing in some commercial food and gradually changing to all raw, etc.), it isn't impossible.
I like the convenience of the medallions of this brand, I simply take out the portions I need every night for the next day, defrost them in the refrigerator overnight, then heat them up just a touch in the toaster oven right before serving. I do strain the gravy out of a good-quality commercial cat food and glaze the food a little with it. My cat also only likes rabbit, I think the strong smells and fattiness of the other meats turns him off.
My 8yr. old husky/lab mix (Cassie Blanca), began limping. I changed her diet to raw and the limp disappeared. My 1yr. old Sharpei/Rhodesian Ridgeback mix (Ginger,) does not like dry food, but loves the raw.
I have 3 cats. One is a huge Burmese (Muchacho, aka BIG BOY), who had a weight problem; he couldn't handle carbs. Since being on a raw diet for one month, he has lost four pounds. I have now transitioned all 3 cats to totally raw and they are enjoying it.
Dr. Pottenger (famed raw food diet researcher) was right!
Thanks for a great, simple to feed product!
The medallions are very convenient. They thaw overnight in the fridge. The one thing I don't like about this food is that it contains veggies, which cats don't need in a raw food.
I have made raw food for my chihuahuas for years because I never trusted commercial brands. My dogs love raw meat and the nutritional balance of Nature's Variety is superb. My 9 year old has skin allergies that have cleared up since I started feeding her NV. No more scratching or vomiting either! The 3 year old is very active and this meets his energy needs. I give them both 2 medallions mixed with 1/4 cup of the dry Instinct for the older, less active dog and 1/2 cup for the younger, more active one. Chihuahuas can be very picky eaters but they love all the flavors so feeding time is now stress free!
It is much more economical and convenient than making it myself. There is no way I would be able to include all the ingredients in NV's formulas. Thank you so much for this product. I no longer worry about their nutritional balance and how it is going to affect their health and longevity.
I have been buying this product in all flavors since it came on the market. I mix it in with my cats'canned food every day. All four of my cats are 100% healthy due to this product and many of the other wonderful products sold by Only Natural Pet!!!!!!!
I love that they have this food available, and it has lovely ingredients. It is also very easy to portion and there are a variety of flavors. Unfortunately, it is totally unpalatable for the cat who really should be on a raw diet because of his IBD. I can't even begin to start transitioning him to it, because if I even use the same spoon to mash up the raw and then use it to mix the canned into his bowl, he will refuse to eat it. This same canned food (Wellness grain free) is eagerly devoured as long as there is no trace of the raw. So far I have tried rabbit, venison, chicken, and lamb formulas, all with the same results.
Literally, I cannot even mix in a pin-head sized amount of the raw with a large portion of canned or he won't touch it. It almost smells like clay, not like meat of any kind. Which is fine, as long as it is good for them (it does contain montmorillonite clay after all) and palatable. Unfortunately, it is not attractive at all to him. I am so disappointed.
Of course, the dogs will eat it, so I am not totally out of luck. The cat does love the wellness grain free food and he is diving right in to the innova evo I got samples of. But he really should be eating raw. And who knows what the stools are going to look like. If anyone has any suggestions, PLEASE let me know! I am ready to try anything!. Are there any raw foods that are more enticing?

I have a 6yr old sphynx(hairless cat)and a 11yr old pug. Both were on Iams dry- weight management.I switched them to raw because my cat was diagnosed with diabetes and my dog has skin and food allergies. The cats on the chicken/ turkey and the dogs on venison.Oh my what a instant change !!!!!The cat had less urine and less smelly stools ,is playing and jumping like a kitten, skins really moist and soft, tummys deflated from a balloon to normal and he's very happy..My dog has stopped licking everything and chewing his feet. His skin doesn't smell...He acts normal and happy. They both love the food.
Every flavor is a hit at my house! NV is easy to feed and I feel good about giving my babies "real" food instead of kibble for every meal! This is a great way to wade into the world of raw feeding for those interested but not willing to make it themselves :)

My cat Diamond, loves this product. Very easy to serve, no mess. She gets 3 to 4 medallions a day.

They won't go near the food raw, I have to cook it for them in order for them to eat it.

My cat has digestion/kidney issues, her health dramatically improved once starting this diet - no more daily vomiting or vet pills that cover up the problem, the food is all she needs

My vet recommended using raw long before the pet food contamination came about. I was feeding an excellent dry food but decided to make the switch to raw as the contaminated list grew. Our 3 yr old Boxer has never looked better; the yard has never been less littered with ... and those of you who know Boxers know they have lots of gas. No more gas. Wish I had known about this food for our Mini Schnauz and Rottie. I'm totally sold on raw.

My dog Elmer absolutely loves this stuff. In the morning he stares at me impatiently until I give him his food. The old food we used to get him he usually wouldn't finish all of it. However, this stuff he has gone in a minute and there is not one tiny morsel left.

Overall I am very pleased. The only draw back is the product is a little messy to serve once it is thawed.

My 3rd old Bichon always rejected his food, and I tried all the expensive & healthy varieties. He has never tolerated dry food - always a struggle to get him to eat. He is now smiling with Nature's Variety Raw Frozen Medallions (organic chicken). I mix a little of our own cooked meat for extra flavor, and he chows down! THANK YOU FOR A WONDERFUL PRODUCT!!

I live in a condo (no backyard) w/ a young, active dog, whom I show in Conformation and am training for Obedience. I need something quick, healthy, worry-free AND something that results in "tidy poo's" that are easy to pick up w/ those dainty poo bags. This is it. Eyes are clear and shiny, dog is energetic, coat glows and we have a nice, neat morning and evening "elimination" with no disgusting side-effects -- to put it as delicately as possible.

One of my dogs can be a very picky eater. I had to persuade him at first to even try it and it seemed he wasn't going to like it much. It turns out, he just doesn't like to eat it cold. I let it get a little warmer for him and now its not a problem. Both dogs wait excitedly for dinner time every night and the transition has been very easy. No upset tummies in this house!
THEY DEVOURED IT AND I DON'T HAVE TO WORRY, WHICH MEANS A LOT NOW DAYS.

This is the best choice since all dogs are carniverous. No more "dry cereal" foods laden with carbohydrates for my German Shepherd. Her coat is shiney and her hip/joint problems have disappeared. She loves it raw! I wish I had served this product to my other shepherd who had bad hips and died recently.

I have been working with my puppy (Chiweenie) and the 11 year old (maltipoo) trying to get them to eat RAW. I myself am a raw foodist (vegan) and know the value. I have to hand feed them both (Spoiled) to get them to eat it and the 11 year old will refuse to eat. I tried mixing with kibble for a while, but the 11 year old just will not eat it. I am feeding the Chicken. Does anyone have any ideas?? Can this be cooked too?

The health of one of my 15 year-old cats had steadily declined over the past several years. His health was so bad that he could not walk without staggering and falling over. His coat was drab and dull. After he survived pneumonia in December, I learned about this food and decided to try the turkey and chicken medallions and the organic chicken medallions. I started adding 1/2 of a medallion to his usual dinner every day. Within a week, he was eating a whole medallion every day. He has been eating at least 1 medallion every day since then and his health and coat have improved tremendously. For the first time in at least a year, he is actually running outside. This food is the only change I have made for him. This food is what has brought him back to the land of the living. I would recommend this food to anyone who has a cat they care about.

My dog loves the patties, but they are a bit too big for him even when cut in half. [...] I will order more when we are finished with these. [...] The only thing I don't like is the fact I have to immediately wash the bowl and hands or anything where the raw organic chicken food has been, but it's not too bad considering my dog is getting a very healthy meal that he absolutely goes crazy about.

This is the only commercial food I would feed to my cat, which has had problems with Feline Urological Syndrome - or urine crystals and blockages. The food is high quality and very nutritious. The kitties look and feel great and I haven't had to take them to the vet since they've started eating it. However, I think this food is too high in protein for some dogs (like mine). It is perfect for cats, though.
I have been feeding raw for years. I'm so happy that people are finally realizing, this is the best way to feed their pets. When people see my Boxer, they always say how beautiful he is, what do you feed him? I tell them the ONLY WAY...
Elliott (11 year old, lab mix, male) has been eating this food for a month now. I can definitely tell a difference. Not only does he have more energy, his coat has become so white and soft. I would recommend this food to anyone!
My Scottish Terrier has been eating raw meat for almost five years. He is healthier than any of my previous pets.

My 13 month old German Shepard developed a bad hot spot after an allergic reaction to mosquitos. It was very tender and he couldn't stand to be touched to apply the medication. I started him on this food mixed in with his dry about 2 days after the incident and within 2 days the hot spot was gone and the hair was growing back in the area they had shave; no medication needed. He is more active, vibrate and excited about life. He eats all his food now and eliminates more regularly and less.

My three year old German Shepherd dog is a rescue who came to live with us 18 months ago. He had obviously been fed table scraps and was in very poor health but would not eat dog kibble of any brand. He often went for three or four days without eating. My daughter told me about this raw meat product and it has been the miracle cure we were looking for with Sigfried. I thaw 4 medallions and mix them with water to make a gravy before adding it to the dry kibble. He will make the bowl spin in circles to get every last drop. Because this product is expensive I alternate this with Honest Kitchen Embark. He loves them both. Highly recommended.
This is a great product all 3 of my dogs love. I'm so glad there is an all organic raw food out there!
Our two little poodles have been on this food for over a year. I tried to give them raw chicken and other meats which I bought at the grocery, but I ended up chopping them up with a hatchet so the little dogs could eat them easier. That was a big bother and mess. With these medallions, I can pop them into a bowl in the morning and they are thawed out by the afternoon. I set some out in the evening, and they are ready for breakfast. If I forget to get them out, they quickly defrost. I mix in suppliments, or hide a pill inside a lump, and wham-bang it is gone in a gulp. There are no big bones, and my dogs gobble down 3 medallions in a meal in less than a minute. With a large dog, I would get the chubs or pattys for meals and use the medallions as treats.
The insulated box they come is is also useful! We are moving across country, and I have packed all the liquid products I wish to take in those boxes. I have also put all my wonderful sented candles in one so they do not mealt as we go across Texas in August. When I get there, I plan on finding someone else who needs insulated boxes. They are great!
Have spent the past two and a half months switching eight beloved terriers, ages 4 to 14, from three different premium grade kibbles to a raw frozen diet.
The two older terriers (10, 14) have been on 100% raw for about a month now. They love it and had no problems at all making a gradual switch. One of those two had a "licking paws" habit that has disappeared. More time passing should reveal more about this diet's benefits.
Six other terriers are now switched to 50% raw/50% kibble. Their kibble requirement previously included three different kibbles (senior, normal, sensitive skin and stomach). With their new kibble, same brand as the frozen raw brand, they are maintaining well with no problems. Their switch was gradual, too, and well worth the effort.
Small changes are observable with this group. The same disappearance of the "paw licking" habit as described above for two of them. Two more previously produced a tiny drop of dried sleep in the corner of each eye, now also gone.
More time passing should reveal the full benefits of this regimen. Hope to report them later on.
Great food, and convenient for a raw diet, but can get expensive with multiple dogs and cats. My kids would eat it till they popped!
I'm sure the food is better & more nutritious but its too bulky in freezer and my pets didn't eat it.
Also concern with bacteria getting on countertops, etc.
It is so easy I just defrost the night before in the Frig get up in the morning hand each dog their Medallions and Breakfast is done I wash my hand's it is that simple.
I have an 8yr old German Sheperd, a 10yr Schnauzer mix with severe allergies, two 3yr Australian Terriers, a 6mo and a 3mo Australian Terrier! Whew! ALL of them love this product, mix it with the dry kibble from Nature's Variety and bowls are cleaned. The most dramatic result is the health benefits for my Schnauzer mix.His coat has come back in, no more constant scratching and chewing,no more constant ear infections, no more picky eating! And he is allergic to everything, including dust mites! And believe me, I had tried EVERYTHING to give him relief. Its like a comedy at feeding time, one large and 5 small dogs sitting in a circle behind me quietly waiting, until the bowls start coming off the counter!
his product is very easy to use. i bought the chicken and turkey medallions.

I have been feeding my Cavalier King Charles Spaniel this food for about 2 weeks now. He just absolutely loves it. He use to go a few days before he would eat, so this prompted me to find something better. I was feeding Royal Canin dry but he just increasing became bored with it so I tried making food myself and other dry and canned formulas. The first few days he seemed to just love the changes but at about the 3-4th day he became bored with those as well. So I decided after much research to try Natures Variety RAW. It is supposed to be the best so I purchased the Organic Chicken, Venison and Lamb varieties and he loves them all. He almost knocks me down trying to get to the fridge. He has small firm stools, drinks less water and is more active than he ever has been. He and I both are thrilled.

My 15-year-old cat was diagnosed with early kidney disease, and the vet recommended one of the commercial kidney diets. After reading the chemicals in it, I researched and found this food. Almost immediately, she regained the weight she had lost, and after 2 months on this food, which she loves, her blood work came back much improved. She is happy again and acting like a kitten -- but she is always bugging me when it starts to get to feeding time! Each meal, I put 3 medallions in a plastic bag in the icebox to thaw for the next meal, and take the thawed ones out and briefly warm the bag in warm water for that meal.

My puppy loves this food. It's the only raw dog food that is completely balanced and you don't need to supplement it with vitamins or minerals. It's easy to feed and easy to measure. I use it a few times a week and my dog goes gaga over it.

My cat, who is diabetic, is now in remission due to her three month diet on the Raw Frozen Food. I used the turkey and chicken variety. She loves it and I am so happy that I am not needing to give her insulin anymore. Thanks for such a great product!

I have a dog with Cancer, it was recommended by a Vet Nutritionist. The dog with cancer is doing great. He was given a few days to a few weeks to live at the end of September 2006. He is perfectly fine and happy. He has no sign of advancing disease. I know it will not cure cancer, but to prolong life it is worth it. I have been feeding all my dogs this and they are acting like puppies again, and the youngest is 7 years old.

My English Mastiff scarfs down her dry kibble and supplements when I add a few medallions of this raw food. I simply defrost 3-4 pieces of any of the meats for 3 minutes and add them to her food. She looks great and licks her bowl! I wash her bowl after each feeding due to using raw meat, but otherwise it couldn't be easier. Try a few bags, You and your pup will enjoy the results!

This food is formulated for both dogs and cats. In my opinion, it's too high in protein for most dogs, but it's excellent for cats. I strongly prefer it over Primal's cat food since Primal includes salmon and fish is toxic for many cats (including mine.) It would be even better if it had a lower proportion of fruits and vegetables, but so far it's the best commercial cat food I've found.
