My 9 yr old cat has developed allergies, itching and chewing. Thought it was environmental, but vet convinced me to change food. He didn't like vet prescriptions, so I did research and found Instinct rabbit. Cat was on turkey and rice flavor of another brand, so I wanted to get away from poultry. Also do Instinct lamb cans. In three weeks my cat is already chewing less. My 14 yr old cat was on turkey and rice for all her life. She is heavy. Vet said to get her off grains, although I was reluctant, I am switching her over and she likes the rabbit kibble, but not the lamb cans. I don't mind the price. It is only 6 lbs less of food for the same price I was paying before. The rabbit kibble does not appear to crumble as I have read about the chicken instinct.
This is my #1 choice in dry cat food. Muffins coat looks shiney and he sheds much less, its Very noticeable. It may cost more, but its very high in protein, he eats less, and his poops are smaller! [...] It is a little crumbley (the chicken, that is) but I hear that the company is improving on that. The rabbit formula may not have that problem. When the crumbles are resolved I'll give a Rating of 5 Paws Plus Plus.
New cat--rescue critter--came home with a coat like a nylon hairbrush and distinct BO. Litter-box duty required hazmat gear. Phased in the Instinct (and phased out the grocery-store stuff) over a few days. The cat took to it immediately. In six weeks, her coat is now downright silky, and she doesn't stink. The litter box isn't exactly springtime fresh, but it has clearly gotten better. I had hoped for some improvement with the natural food, but I never expected such a change.
I really liked this product but, the fact that the food turns to dust is a turn off. I thought maybe the bag was dropped so I bought a second bag and there was more dust then the first.
My Highland Lynx loves this product, I love the fact that it is grain free and high protein, which is better for him in keeping him healthy and lean.. I can't wait until the new rabbit formula comes out and he can alternate with both chicken and rabbit.

Cats just would not eat it.
I wanted to feed my two cats a natural and high protein diet. Neither of my cats would eat this. I tried for several days, thinking they would get hungry and give in, but they did not. I tried mixing it with wet food, but they ate around the Instinct, so I had to give up and find another similar product, which they love.

Although Murphy is an indoor cat with a daily walk outside, he is very active and requires more food than average for his 10 lb. size. He actually eats less due to the high protein content which sustains his metabolism unlike carbs and fillers. This is a great food!

I have a finiky 3 year old and piggy kitten. They both LOVE the food. They try to team up and break into the bag. I love it because there is no ash or grain. Thanks!
I did recommend it to a friend and now she uses it for her 4 cats
I give my cats a combination of several types of dry food with this as one of the constants. It's a great product as it has a good ingredient list and is tasty for the cats. It is, however, a bit messy and breaks up easily (especially if shipped directly to your house). I love Only Natural Pet Store, but from now on, I will only order this product through my local pet store (as I did the first time I bought it) to minimize breakage in shipping.
This is actually the first cat food review that I have ever done, but I thought it was important that I do it !!
My cat is not finicky at ALL when it comes to dry food. I have fed her seven or eight different types of natural and organic dry foods in the past few years, and she ate them ALL.
I am gradually changing her diet to a high protein, low carb diet so that she can lose a little weight, and I started her on Innova Evo.
(She LOVES the Evo !!)
I saw that Nature's Variety Instinct was also a very high protein, low carb dry food, so I purchased some of that to give her some variety.
Well......the Instinct dry food is the first dry food I have bought that she will not eat !!
When I first opened the bag and set some out, she tried a couple bites, and apparently decided that she did NOT like it !!
She would never eat ANY of it after that.
I would put the food in front of her, and she would just turn her head and walk away !!
Just wanted to let everyone know what my experience with this food was, because my NON-finicky cat did NOT like it !!
Finally a dry food all 4 cats will eat. I had to find a food that wasn't being recalled every other day. It was just too stressful thinking one day I might end up poisoning my cats feeding them a premimum food "so I thought" with ingredients from some unethical back water far-flung garbage dump of a country just so they can make a few more pennies, yuan, yen or whatever currency they have over there.
I have a range of young-ish (6 years), senior (10+ years), geriatric (17+ years) and extremely active (2 years) and they all will eat it. The geriatric I also feed Well Balance canned because she prefers soft meals.
I have a Ragdoll who has the typical allergies and stomach upset associated with this breed. After 4 years of yak, many brands of food, and a ruined carpet, have moved to Raw Instinct grain free -- she really likes it AND the vomiting has been reduced from 4-5 times per week to one or two -- and much less of it. And no diarrhea! Ragdoll owners, this is a great product!
Immediately after delivery, and right out of the bag...they loved it. They don't eat much, but seems to last them a lot longer than their regular old food...great!
My cats all loved it. I have 3 of them. I found that it had lots of crumbs though, could have been a dropped bag or something though. Overall, great!
