My Dogs Love Embark from Honest Kitchen
By PattyVerified Purchaser from Rio Rancho, New Mexico on 3/23/2007
Pros:
Nutritional, Tasty
Best Uses:
Active Dogs, Larger Dogs, Older Dogs, Puppies, Smaller Dogs, Special Needs
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I will not feed my dogs anything but natural foods. They thrive on Embark (they are both under a year old). Even though it is a complete food, I add my own hormone-free meats and veggies to it. [...] Thank you.

Great Product
By ErinVerified Purchaser from Ann Arbor, MI on 3/6/2007
Pros:
Convenient, Dog loves it, Good for skin and coat, Good Value, Mostly non-processed, Nutritional, Tasty
Cons:
Has to "set"
Best Uses:
Active Dogs, Larger Dogs, Older Dogs, Puppies, Smaller Dogs, Special Needs
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I really like this food, it has a lot of great qualities. I like to add more protein to it (canned fish, ground meat, egg or cottage cheese) to boost the nutritional content, but it is good by itself too. My dog loves it, and finds it VERY hard to wait 5-10 minutes while it "sets" on the counter. Next to a completely raw food diet, I think this diet is tops! It's convenient and stores well. You can also see all the real food ingredients in it. I recommend it to everyone.

Good for sensitive GI systems
By Drool CentralVerified Purchaser from Denver, CO on 2/27/2007
Pros:
Grain-free, Natural, Nutritional
Cons:
Weak meat flavor
Best Uses:
Older Dogs, Special Needs
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

We introduced our rescued basset hounds to Honest Kitchen after six months of GI upset on a "natural" dry and canned food. Everything cleared up quickly with Honest Kitchen. They dogs are healthy and their weight has been properly maintained, a challenge with basset hounds! One of our dogs isn't thrilled about the taste, so we mix a little extra meat in to keep him interested. Our dogs have bright, smooth coats and the elimination of grains from their meals keeps the hound smell away, but this food hasn't helped with shedding. Since Honest Kitchen is dehydrated, it also takes up less space in the pantry.

Good Product, But The Smell!
By Lady LindyVerified Purchaser from Hagerstown, MD on 2/23/2007
Pros:
Nutritional
Cons:
Bad Smell
Best Uses:
Larger Dogs
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Thought this would be GREAT due to its healthy composition, but the smell(garlic?)turned my princess off. Tried mixing it w/ her dry food & she picked at it. She didn't care for it's Oatmaeal like consistency. So disappointed she didn't like it as I think it's a very good product.

Pros:
Convenience, Good Value, Nutritional, Tasty
Best Uses:
Active Dogs, Larger Dogs, Puppies, Special Needs

All our 8 month old bull terrier's allergy issues cleared up after starting him on Preference. We add raw meaty bones and he LOVES his meals.
If you're feeding raw and not being diligent about proper balancing, you need to rethink your program. Preference offers a well balanced, fresh, healthy, and convenient alternative to hours spent steaming, chopping, bagging, and guessing about the non-meat part of a raw diet. Thank you!

All 4 of my dogs, ages 5, 7, 8 and 9 have different food requirements and your products are just what I needed. They are thriving on your products. I add additional raw meats. I can see a definite difference in their health. Thanks for great products.

Wonderful Food for Pets!
By The Biscuit QueenVerified Purchaser from Juneau, Alaska on 12/4/2006
Pros:
Good Value, Nutritional, Tasty
Best Uses:
Active Dogs, Puppies, Special Needs

I've been using this food for two years for both my cats and dogs. I make my own dog food normally, but that is a lot of work and I don't always have the time to put it all together. Also, when boarding your pet or housing a petsitter, this food is EASY to prepare and has all the wonderful benefits of a home prepared, raw diet. Your dogs and cats will shine with health, and eagerly lick the buckets to get more!

I wanted my dog on something raw and easy for me. I found The Honest Kitchen products and thought they would help my dog with her allergies and other problems. I have two dogs on this and they both love it. Her allergies are lessened and she looks much better. I am very happy with this product so far.

Very sick dog on the road to recovery
By BobbieVerified Purchaser from Albuquerque NM on 10/30/2006
Pros:
Animal Likes It, Improves Coat, Nutritional
Best Uses:
Dog

My doberman has many allergy problems and also colitis. After many changes in dog foods, and different trials of drugs, we tried Embark. The dog no longer has bloody stools, scratches alot less - is taking less benedryl and actually wolfs down his food instead of being coaxed at every bite. He has gained 4 pounds in less than 3 weeks. I had been trying to put some weight on him for 6 months.
My over weight female is eating Force and has lost 2 pounds. Her coat is shiny and her skin is in better condition than it has been in 3 years.
My dogs are back to their playful selves and we haven't been going back and forth to the vet.
Both dogs do get a small amount of dry protein/no grain food added to the Honest Kitchen dehydrated food, 3parts HK/1part dry. protein.
