I have a 5 year old Shih Tzu, Bob, who was a puppy mill rescue. He had been crated for the first 3 years of his life. When I first brought Bob home with me he had no muscle tone and no energy. No matter what I have fed him - even trying to make food from scratch - nothing would help his energy level. Bob comes to work with me every day. He would spend most of the day sleeping. I would end up having to carry him out in the evening to go home because he was too exhausted to walk on his own.
Taking Bob for walks generally meant carrying Bob back home because he could not go far without tiring. I started him on Verve a month ago, and I cannot believe that this is the same dog. His energy level has steadily increased. His eyes are bright and he just looks healthier.
Most importantly, he just looks happier. Other staff members at work
are amazed at the transformation. Not only does Bob love the Verve,
but I had to stop serving it to him on a paper plate because he would eat the food and then proceed to eat the plate. I cannot thank you enough. Now I just need to find something for my energy level, so that I can keep up with him.
Verve is my dog's favorite Honest Kitchen variety. He is extremely picky, and I think it helps that Verve smells like green peppers. I tried to switch him to Thrive for a while, thinking it would be a little better with a little less grains to reduce the gas he gets from time to time, but he would only eat it if Verve was mixed in it. He cleans the bowl when I set it down. According to the directions, you don't need to boil the water you re-hydrate it with, just let it sit for 5-10 minutes, but then the oatmeal in it does not cook. My boy is not patient enough to let the food sit, since he sits there watching me make it. Other than that, this is a good healthy food with premium ingredients that saves me time by not having to cook myself. Cheaper than buying all of the ingredients separately.
Verve works wonderfully for my retired hunting dogs. They are just house companions that double as watchdogs and don't get the exercise they use to. Verve helps keep the weight off of them. They are very healthy and happy on this diet. Not to mention; they absolutely adore this food! It is eaten up immediately and not a single scrap left. I've never seen them so in love with their food. I'm glad we've discovered Honest Kitchen.
My dogs eat Verve with great enthusiasm. They are exceptionally lively and full of energy ever since starting our new Honest Kitchen diet. My boys are full of vivacity and zeal. Honest Kitchen is the best food available. My boys love beef. It is a wonderfully healthy recipe. Rye is a favorite in our house. My dogs are also crazy about barley. I'm happy about the hormone free beef.
I bought verve for the first time, I have used other types within the line for my Rottweiler, but I found out she is allergic to chicken and/or turkey. After reading about the benefits of raw, I tried it out myself, and to an eventual meltdown (being vegan makes it very difficult to work with raw meats every day). I have always fed my 4 dogs premium holistic or organic dry, canned and raw foods, but had switched to a combination of Verve & raw meats about 2 months ago. We have been feeding our dogs Honest Kitchen for about 18 months and think it is a wonderful pet food. Since changing my dogs to an all natural diet with Verve and raw, I have noticed a significant decrease in vet bills due to chronic ear infections, food allergies and hot spots. AFTER YOU FEED THIS TO YOUR DOG, HE WILL NOT WANY ANYTHING ELSE.
I bought verve for the first time, i have used other types within the line for my weim, but i found out she is allergic to chicken and/or turkey. verve is the only dehydrated food in the line from Honest Kitchen that uses red meat. Unfortunatly, it also contains grains, but these are whole grains, not processed, and our dogs do need some in their diets. she is doing well on it so far, i rotate it with three other types of food. its easy to prepare, i usually dont let it sit for 10 minutes, as my dog wont let me! she eats it even before it has thickened up and still loves it. all of the Honest Kitchen's dehydrated foods are wonderful!
After reading about the benefits of raw, I tried it out myself, and to an eventual meltdown (being vegan makes it very difficult to work with raw meats every day). This* food, however, made it possible to give Lola the nutrition she needed, while satiating my own peace of mind. I mix this with salmon oil, kelp, multivitamin, and garlic/yeast and she practically devours it all in a matter of minutes. She looks great, her coat looks better than ever, and she just seems happier overall. I would and have recommended this diet to anyone who owns a dog and believes that our animals should have every right to a good meal every day.
I have always fed my 3 dogs premium holistic or organic dry, canned and raw foods, but had switched to a combination of Verve & raw meats about 2 months ago. Within 3 weeks I noticed my dog with allergies was less itchy, and all 3 seemed leaner and had shinier coats. They thoroughly enjoy their meals & can't wait to get at them! A big "paws up" for this food!
Honest Kitchen is an excellent food - nutrition is superior, takes up little space, and smaller stools.
I feed raw (BARF) diet, and have used this for several years to replace the morning meal of fruit/veggies/protein, (chicken backs at night.) When I travel, I feed only HK Verve for sanitary reasons. My vet was so impressed with my Dobermans' health & appearance, he began using it!
4 out of 5 of my dogs won't touch it.
We have been feeding our dogs Honest Kitchen for about 18 months and think it is a wonderful pet food. Both of our dogs have sensitive digestive systems. Verve gives them the fiber and veggies they need without giving them diarhhea. I supplement the HK with cooked ground turkey or beef (used to do all raw but they just couldn't digest it without problems) and a sprinkle of high quality kibble just for some crunch. I also use HK's Perfect Form product as my dogs have had trouble with gas. One of the things I like best about HK is how visually appealing it looks. It smells fresh and earthy. Even though it is an expensive food, I think it is worth the price.
Since changing my dogs to an all natural diet with Verve and raw, I have noticed a significant decrease in vet bills due to chronic ear infections, food allergies and hot spots. I may pay more for my dogs food, but it certainly doesn't add up to anywhere near the high price of a vet bill, or in my case, multiple vet bills. My dogs eyes cleared up, all of their hair they had lost due to hot spots grew back and guess what? NO MORE ear infections! Verve works great when we go camping. Just add water, wait ten minutes and it's ready. Also, making patties in the oven out of Verve is good for traveling as well. Your doing your beloved pet and yourself a favor by switching to an all natural food.
AFTER YOU FEED THIS TO YOUR DOG, HE WILL NOT WANY ANYTHING ELSE.
I used the Honest Kitchen line well before the dog food scandals occured in America. It is a good clean high end operation. Verve is their most economical product.
In this line of high priced products it is the most economical. Embark was my first choice for my dog as a puppy but as he began to reach his full size I switched to Verve. It is made with healthy ingrediants and he needed some grain for bulk.
Verve, like all Honest Kitchen products, is a great, balanced diet. I have shelties and foster rescue shelties. When I get a new foster in, I use Verve to entice the dog to eat. I also use it to stuff Kongs (freeze) and use it with Wellness Super5Mix kibble. Even the cats love it.
And, it doesn't have the horrid smell of wet food! It smells good enough for people to eat.
I currently use the Beef based Verve version but I'd like to switch over to the Turkey based Force version as it's Grain Free and Turkey based which (for a Cocker Spaniel) doesn't need a whole lot of grains, etc.
I alternate meals between Verve and Embark to help on food costs. Max eats it right down but does not "polish the bowl" like he does with Embark. He'll also eat the raw drum stick before finishing the Verve.
At first, when I re-hydrate, I feel like I am looking at oat meal gone bad. Didn't think it would go over very well. WAS I WRONG! I use this at their evening meal time along with their dry food. They lick it up.
