Goldie, my 6 month old Labrador Retriever, is in love with Honest Kitchen Embark. He can't seem to get it down fast enough. I like that it isn't in kibble form, so it doesn't get stuck in his teeth and cause plaque. But, it is way better than traditional canned formula foods. Goldie is a hunting dog, so his nutrition is very important to me. With Honest Kitchen Embark he has more than enough energy to do his job!

My picky eater loves this food. He actually now comes running to the food bowl when I put it out, which is a tremendous change for him. Stools are looking much better also. I am feeding the amount suggested for a less-active dog, even though he is a fairly young male show dog and relatively active. It does take him a fairly long time to eat it. Too soon to tell how it will affect his coat (which doesn't need any help).

I thought this product would be more meaty. My 1yr old pup doesn't have a pallet for veggies and fruit flavors/smells and won't eat it. I even tried to mix it with other meat flavors and he just doesn't like it and he's a pretty healthy eater.

My Labrador Retriever, Yoshi, loves this food! He literally cannot get it down fast enough. As soon as I bought it he was jumping up, smelling the box like crazy. As I was preparing it, he could hardly wait. When I put the food down for him, he gobbled it up within a minute. He literally licked the bowl clean. Yoshi begged for more. He sat next to his bowl and cried for a good 15 minutes. I ended up having to give him another half cup.

I have an older dog who is recovering from cancer. He wouldn't eat any food for a long time and I was getting very worried. As soon as I set some Embark down in front of him, he scarfed it down and licked the bowl clean! I couldn't believe my eyes. Our next trip to the vet was great. I was told my boy was back up to his appropriate weight and the cancer was no where to be found.

My miniature rat terrier had almost no hair on her chest and was always cold. After a few months of eating Embark, she grew a fuller coat and chest hair. She lost weight and is more active. I didn't realize that what I had been feeding her caused her problems. I told the vet what had happened and she asked to see the ingredients. I took the wrapper to her and she verified the food has everything in it a dog needs.

I have two older Shelties, 14 & 13. They love this food. It's expensive, so I supplement with Trader Joe's canned food and also leftover veggies etc., plus a little yogurt and coconut oil. They haven't had stomach upsets, loose stools etc., since they've been on it. I make about 8 cups at a time and keep it in the fridge.

11 yr old Ernie & 3 yr old Edith are both thriving on this along with their freeze dried venison also from ONPS. Ernie was losing weight and generally declining after a bout with pancreatitus. He's no longer a "boney old man" and almost keeps up with Edith. They both have healthy skin, coats, stools etc. This food has really been a blessing. A good diet makes all the difference.

We use Embark and Force as the Veggie and Minerals
of a Raw Diet for a 8yr old Rottie and a 10 month old Boston Terrier. We have been force on a couple of occasion to feed them kibble for a month and found both began shedding and had awful gas. After 2 weeks back on there regular Diet of Embark, Force, Ground chicken and a beef blend all went back to as it should be. Great coats, no gas and happy happy poochies.

This product takes a little urging so I mixed it with previous food and some people food and now my dog looks forward to meal time. She is under care of Purdue University Vets and takes steroids but this has slimmed her down, given more energy and brighten her coat. All of which is very important as she is my only true friend.

Our Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier Bob loves this stuff! The other night I forgot to mix his next day meal. (bad mommy) In the morning I gave him a little extra meat just to hold him for 15 minutes till the meal rehydrated, Bob refused the meat, threw his head back and howled till breakfast was ready! It is good to know there are safe alternatives to "kibble".

This is wonderful dog food! We have had digestive problems for years with our Siberian Husky. He could not digest any other dog food that was tried. We had him on a raw food diet, but this also sometimes caused problems and was extremely time consuming. He has been on this food for at least 9 months, has had no more digestive problems, has more energy (i don't know if that is a good thing!), his coat has improved tremedously, and absolutly loves the taste. We switched over our other dog to this, and he too loves it. Although it is costly, it is definitely worth the couple of extra bucks!

I love so many of the Honest Kitchen's products. Embark is my favorite. These foods are incredibly fresh, healthy, easy to prepare (just add water) - and the dogs love it (after a few days of adjusting to the new texture). I feed Embark with another protein source in a 1:1 ratio. Usually beef or turkey, sometimes chicken, tofu, or eggs. Embark, along with the other Honest Kitchen dehydrated foods (I've tried several), significantly increase the amount of poops per day, which is why I won't feed it alone. Other than that, it's perfect.

Sigfried is a 3 year old German Shepherd dog who came to us through a rescue agency when he was 18 months old. He had obviously been fed only on table scraps and was in very poor health. He would go for up to four days without eating any dog food. Once I discovered this food and began to add it to his kibble he turned into a different dog. I alternate this with NV Raw Medallions. He is now wonderfully healthy, active, and has a gorgeous coat. Highly recommended.

My dog, Heidi, is 12 years old and has had skin problems all her life. We rescued her when she was 10 months old. Her coat was dull and dirty and had many leisions on her skin. It took some some to realize her allergy to grains. I was given a book about raw food diets and started making meals according to their recipe. It worked wonderfully but when I was facing surgery myself I needed to find a ready made product to feed her while I recovered. That's when Embark which is grain free was recommended to me because it's so easy to use. We've been buying it for a long time now and Heidi is doing very well with it. Great product!

Pros:
High Quality
Cons:
Expensive
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I love this food! I have an "old girl" who developed diabetes-the grain free formula is so good for her and her insulin has been reduced. I also have a puppy that had been neglected. When I got him he was very weak and under weight, not interested in eating at all. I made the food very soupy so he could eat it easily. Soon he was putting on some healthy weight and had great energy. I highly recommend this food.

Pros:
High Quality
Cons:

Bottom Line:

We no longer can trust most pet food manufacturers. But Honest Kitchen is one company we can definitely trust to produce healthy and complete foods for our pets. I feed my two dogs Embark and my cat eats it too. I add my own organic veggies, grains, lentils and hormone-free chicken and turkey, even though I don't have to as it is a complete food on its own. It is expensive and I would love to see a sale once in a while. *smile* But I only give my babies the best. Thank you [...] for all your great products.

i don't trust any other food!
By Health Freaks...Verified Purchaser from Los Angeles, CA on 4/24/2007
Pros:
Good Value, High Quality, The healthiest choice
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

My husband and I have 3 dogs, and of course they're the most precious, smartest, and the most beautiful dogs in the world :) :) I'm not kidding! We get stopped with comments everytime we take them for a walk! But what people don't know is who helped to make them look so stunning. We have 2 Thai Ridgebacks and 1 Papillon mix, and since we started feeding them with this food their health, skin and coat has never been better. Thai Ridgebacks have very sensitive skin and coats and our dogs would get rashes on a normal basis. We changed shampoos, rubbed creams and lotions but it wasn't untill we switched to the Honest Kitchen that the rashes went away. We thought it could have been a coincidence but there was one time that we postponed our order for the next shipment of food and so we fed them with a different brand, and right away the rashes returned. One of our dogs also had problems with poor digestion but...NOT ANYMORE! It's truly a "miracle food" and you won't know it until your dogs try it! If that's not enough proof that we love this food and think its great for our dogs; we're traveling with them to Europe for the summer and I'm shipping a 3 months worth supply of Honest Kitchen to make sure that our dogs have the healthiest meal on the planet. And the price is well worth! As a last a comment (and I promise we're not getting paid to leave this) you will save so much on your Vet bills. We take our dogs to the vet ONLY for annual vaccines - that 's it! Plus, we gave some to our friends and they were so happy with the results that the very next day they order some of their own. THANK YOU HONEST KITCHEN !!!!!

Looks different - Tastes great!
By Doxie MomVerified Purchaser from Texas on 4/10/2007
Pros:
Good Value, High Quality
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I've been feeding this food to my dachshunds for about a year now. It looks strange to us humans but trust me, the dogs love it! Every one of my foster dogs has loved it also. One was such a picky eater I had to hand feed him and coax him into eating one kibble at a time, but that changed when I gave him The Honest Kitchen. He gobbles up his food now. Another foster had a red rash that cleared up once I switched him to The Honest Kitchen. A third had tummy problems and would sometimes throw up yellow bile in the mornings. That stopped once he started eating The Honest Kitchen. I am convinced that the grain free formula and high quality ingredients are well worth the price. The food goes a long way - the feeding portions are so much less than you would expect because it is dehydrated and has no fillers. And the added bonus is there's far less waste to clean up. Order some today!
