My boxer pup was on this food for up to 3 weeks, in that time her skin was irritated, she didn't eat much of it, her eyes were red, loose stools, peas and carrots were not digested, her lab work came back with calcium level too high and she was urinating crystals. [...] Found out calcium in this Puppy Plate was 2.7% too high for my fast growing Boxer pup at 11 to 13 weeks of age.
I was originally giving my now 1 year old toy poodle Spicy Life's Abundance. I initially wanted to switch to a less expensive brand. However Spicy being the picky eater she has been since birth refused to eat it. She took some out my hand but would leave it in the bowl for days and days. I ended up giving it away shes currently liking the Kibbles and Bits since her LA has run out again I'm thinking about putting her on Castor and Pollux. The food seems like its good for dogs and I love the companies overall message but Spicy thinks otherwise!
My dog loves this food. I also give her salmon oil and the ONPS daily. Her coat is amazing and very soft. She seems very happy, active and has consistent bowl movements. I can't ask for anything more.
I can't believe how incredible this food is!! My German Shepherd pup is like most Shepherds..PICKY AS HELL!! My husband and I eat super healthy and of course wanted out dog to get the most nutrients from his food being as we understand how important this is. We read many reviews and researched for 6 months before we got our dog (Kilo) and have yet to read any reviews that are negative. He is now 4 months old and still in love with this food. He won't eat anything but. His coat is incredible. People stop us all the time and ask what we are feeding him being as his coat is so healthy looking. His teeth are incredible as well!! His energy is super! Every day I think how amazing his coat looks! Love this product!! Wouldn't switch for anything!!
My Cavalier loves this food. I mix a little chicken in with it and within seconds it's gone. Her stool was loose for the first few days on it but that's normal with any food change in a puppy. Her coat is healthy and shiny and she has lots of energy.
My puppy loves this food. His coat is shiny, his teeth look great, breath is pretty good (for dog breath)and he has lots of energy.
The food makes my dog very "regular" which has actually been perfect for potty training. I know that he needs to go out at the same times each day, I know he will go to the bathroom and I can then reward and praise him.
It does not make his stool loose, like I have read in other reviews.
I think this puppy food is great and would recoment it to anyone ;-)
My Beagle puppy loved it but it causes her to poop a LOT (about 4-5 times a day)and large amounts each time. I think she is not absorbing it well or it has too much fiber.
I bought this food for my small breed puppy who I had on Purina Pro Plan. While Pro Plan was recced by my Vet, I figured Merrick's being more expensive and organic might be a better choice. While my puppy loved the taste of Merricks, I found that her bowel movements (both frequency and amount) increased considerably and she was prone to make many more housetraining mistakes. We stayed on Merricks until the bag was finished, but once it was I went back to Pro Plan and things are back to normal. I think the problem with merrick's is that it has so much roughage that for my small breed pup it acted a bit like giving her metamucil with every meal.

My dog was a little unsure of this at first, because he was used to cleaning up food after my 1 yr old threw it onto the floor! However, we have stopped letting him do that, and he eats this 3 times a day and LOVES it! We add a little warm water to make a nice gravy that he goes crazy for, and we mix it in really good with our hands to get our scent in it so he knows who is giving him the chow, and it has been a dream food. Also, his BMs are more regular, which I don't know if that's because of the food, but we like to think it is! He just seems to feel a lot better. Before he was eating Purina Puppy Chow.
