My active mixed-breed lab mutt loves this food. I regularly switch him between the different kinds, whenever a bag is close to empty (2-3 meals left) I pour in a new bag of a different flavor and he seems to respond positively when it is time for a new bag (eats like he never ate before!). However, he only likes the salmon in small quantities, every now and then given in single meal quanities. The beef, venison, chicken, and lamb are all well-loved. His stool is very healthy and his fur is silky smooth even in the dry desert here. We regularly hike with him, and he loves swimming and running, the food seems to provide him enough energy for all his daily activities.

In the past I would rotate the brand of my dogs' kibble because they would get really bored of in about 4 months. However, I have fed Prarie for about two years and the dogs still love it! My preformance dogs are strong and healthy, and my dog with a sensitive stomach digests it well.

I love this food. My dogs love it, they have no digestive problems, great stools, and no gas. My 13 year old samoyed/collie mix improved so much after we switched him from hills I/D. And non of the bad stuff like preservatives, coloring, corn, soy etc.

Babies loved it! I have a lab mix, husky and an other. All of them are very picky eaters, they were eating Eukanuba. I took them off that diet when it was brought to my attention that Iams test their products on beagles. They haven't had any type of digestive problems with this product. They love it,which makes me happy.

WE love this food! I have several dogs with poultry allergies. We use the beef and barley kibble, no worries! We've tried other products, but have always gone back to this one.

I aboslutely love this food. My Vizsla is a picky eater and since adding this food to her mix, I haven't had any problems with her eating. Her coat is soft and shiny and she seems to have more energy. I also put this food into my ferret's food mix and they love it too.

I have a Boxer mix who came from a rescue in bad shape (demodex mange) I put him on this food after trying a couple different other brands and this cleared up all his ear infections and his skin and coat are beautiful. The most important benifit was no gas(boxer owners know all about this) I also have a border collie mix who would not eat any food for more than a month and the variety in flavors have been a life saver he loves it and his shedding has slowed down tremendously. Variety is the spice of life.
The only down fall of this food is it is hard to find. And the calorie content seems to be to high for my Ridgeback who has weight issues.

Decent, but not the best
By BlackDogzVerified Purchaser from Iowa on 12/2/2006
Pros:
Good Value, Tasty

I tried this food after my Canidae supplier ran out-- I wasn't terribly impressed. It's a good food that is FAR better than any brand available at a grocery or discount store, but I feel there are better foods out there. I noticed my black dogs had drier coats and were not as 'black' after only a few weeks on this food. We've switched back to Canidae and my dogs are back to their old selves.

Recommended high quality dog food
By Super LankyVerified Purchaser from Santa Clara, CA on 10/1/2006
Pros:
Good Value, High Quality
Cons:
A bit costly

I totally recommend all Prairie products for dogs. I have a 15 year old dog who looks and acts like he is 3! Not to sound morbid, but he should be on his way to doggie heaven. I believe feeding him quality products such as the Prairie brand has kept him going. His coat is shiny and healthy. He doesn't have any internal problems, bad bones, etc. He is still vivacious and happy and keeps up with my three year old pup!
