these chews are wonderful if you have a dog that is allergic to dairy,beef, and gluten and cannot have regular rawhide chews. they are large enough and long-lasting enough to be a very good substitute.

These are great, though I would not order the BIG BOYZ again, I'd order the smaller size. The big ones are a little large, though they can be torn in half. I feel very good about giving my dogs these and I'm very picky about what I give them!

Sweet potatoes for the smaller dog. This is the right size for littler dogs. Stay away from the "Big Boyz" which cannot be readily broken into smaller pieces, though the basic product seems to be the same. My Havanese liked these as a special treat, but not sure it would work for everyday.

After having one of my terriers have to have a rawhide "dental chew" removed with a gastroscopy and $1000.00 plus vet bill, anything made with rawhide is OUT! "Sam's Yams" are perfect as they still have the teeth cleaning action, have no odor and let my babies all chew away without worrying about something getting lodged in their system.

I bought these for my mini schnauzer as an alternative to chicken jerky chews which were upsetting his digestion. I have also tried the "fries". They are both great products. Jake loves them and I feel good about giving him a nutritious treat. His digestion "issues" are now under control. I'll be purchasing the large bag which is more economical.

I give one treat a night to all my dogs and I wanted a totally healthy treat that lasted and that I felt good about giving to my show dogs. I love these treats and my dogs go nuts over them! Sweet potatoes are a healthy and safe treat to give so I will be using these for life.

My dog has allergies to all meat and wheat products, so we can't give her rawhide or milk bones as a treat. This is the only product that we have found that has no effect on her allergy, and that she loves. Thank goodness we found it!

I can't believe my dogs love these! My two GSDs love rawhides, so I never thought I could replace them with something that's actually good for them! They resemble thick rawhides! They don't last long with a breed that likes to chew, but these treats are worth every penny!

My dogs love these treats! They stand up on their hind legs and bark at me when I pull out the bag. I have two chihuahuas and two terriers. I take one strip and break it into four pieces (the chihuahuas get the smaller pieces). It takes them about 5 minutes to chew and then they are very happy. I mentioned these treats to my vet and she highly approved of them. I love them and continue to purchase them. [...]

My dogs loved these! It got to the point that they figured out where I had stashed the bag; I had to deal with two basset hounds howling in front of the cabinet. The only thing is that I noticed that my older yorkie had some difficulty in trying to chew these, so I wouldn't recommend these for senior dogs. My pug didn't have any troubles though after I cut the chew to a more manageable size for her, so these would probably be fine for smaller dogs as long as you supervise their chewing.

I like these treats because they are natural. No additives. High in beta carotene. The dogs love them. Because they are yams, the pieces are fairly large, but they can be broken up.

I had been looking for a healthy treat for my dog that suffers of inflamatory bowel disease. This has been a great hit !!! My beautiful Schnauzer loves it, it's good for him and helps him to balance his bowel. I would strongly reccomend this product !!!
Our Golden Retiever loves these treats, and I like giving them to her because they are healthy for her. When we give her one of these, she takes it and leaves the room to eat it in private, although she's back in a few minutes they don't last long.

My 10 year old Yorkie had to have most of her teeth extracted and had some kidney damage from the infection so the Vet said to cut down on the protein in her diet. These were a perfect answer for her treats. She manages them just fine with the few teeth she has left and she loves them.

We have 3 pugs. Sam's Yams are an excellent way for them to get the extra fiber they need plus the yam is a great chewy. Our Pugs love to chew and it was a challange to find something good for them that filled that need.
A little pricey with three dogs but the benefits out weigh the price.

My dog has a liver shunt and can't have any protein derived from meat. Unfortunately most treats are meat based and she's been stuck eating carrots and cottage cheese as a reward. (Thankfully our little girl LOVES those so it's good.) We found these sweet potato sticks and they have been perfect. She used to love chewing on bully sticks but since they are a no-no now, this is the next best thing. I highly recommend for anyone looking to give their dog something they can chew on that will also be healthy.
My pug's eyes light up when it's time for a potato. He gets a piece of one every night as a treat and he couldn't get more excited. This is a great product!

My wheaten terrier goes crazy for the sweet potato chews. My newfoundland will eat just about anything, but, oddly enough, it took him a while to acquire a taste for them. They are a great alternative to rawhides - something my newf has a hard time digesting. He doesn't have a problem with the sweet potatoes.

I have found this to be a great alternative to rawhides, pigs ears or bullie sticks. It may not last as long but it keeps my dogs teeth clean, is nutritional and doesn't contain anything they shouldn't be eating and most of all my two dogs LOVE them.

My puggle loves these and so do I, it is a nutritional treat that keeps her occupied for abput 15-30 minutes and for a puggle that is a lot of down time. These treats are nutritious and tasty and they do not have a foul odor like alot of other dog treats.

Every couple of weeks we give our lab mix a large Sam's Yams. Our dog can be finicky, so I store them in our other bag of her jerky treats so they can take on the odor of the smelly meat. Once she bites into them, she enjoys the flavor.

My two pugs love these chews. One of my pugs only has eight teeth, and she still finds these pretty easy to work on (I usually give her a smaller one compared to my other pug). I get them the regular-sized bag. There is no mess and no smell with these, and they don't upset their stomachs. My pugs aren't picky (read: eat anything), but they do get excited about these!

A great alternative to all those beef products. I have home-cooked meals for my dogs and use sweet potatoes as a great binder. It helps with their elimination AND sweet potato provides a lot of nutritional support. These little "Fries" are chewy and last a long time. NOT for large breed dogs however as they would just gulp them down. But they are great for my puppy.

I just knew my dog would love this product. He has had other sweet potato dog chews, but this one looked much healthier. The pieces are very large and hard, so I cut them up into smaller pieces. I wouldn't consider my dog a picky eater, but he really doesn't care for the product.

This is a great treat to give your dogs just as a reward or to help with their chewing needs. Of course, these yummy yams don't last a long time, but my dogs find them totally satisfying and want more!

Since I crate my dog when I leave, I always give her a treat when she gets in. When I reach for the bag of Sam's Yams she runs into her crate and sits perfectly still with a big line of drool ready to hit the floor. She LOVES these! My chihuahua Lucy cannot get treats or chew toys because she is allergic to everything! These seem to be the only treats or chews that she tolerates and doesn't get her flare ups! I will say, my other dog, chews this rather quickly, but they both LOVE THEIR CHEWS! The go nuts over these! I will also say it makes them go poo a lot! But it was only a bit soft the first couple of days! So I alternate. I will give them a chew for 3 days straight and then lay off them for about 2.
I highly recommend these for anyone who has a dog with allergies or dogs, like mine, that eat only natural and raw foods! A truly healthy chew! It has nothing in it but dehydrated yams!

My male dog, Buddy, likes these better than my female, Katie. She will eat them, but only after Bud has eaten his and comes sniffing around for hers. I do like an alternative to chews and meat treats. The consistency and structure is such that it takes a little bit to eat, which makes for a satisfying chew for your pet. They might be a little difficult for smaller dogs.

My boys absolutely love Sam's Yams! They're super-healthy, grain-free, don't aggravate my dogs' allergies, and there grown right here, in safe American Soil! They can be cut down with a good pair of scissors, too, for smaller dogs, or more gentle chewers.
I wasn't expecting perfect digestion from such a starchy treat, considering the trouble carnivores tend to have with carbohydrates. I just wish the poorly-chewed pieces digested a little better. So, for dogs that already eat their stools, the undigested sweet potato chunks present in the stools serve as an unfortunate extra reward for an already troublesome behavior.

We give Lailie our 63lb Golden a Sam's Yam every day as a reward after brushing, or a treat when we take a long hike together. What I love is that it takes a couple of minutes for her to eat the yam, and she loves it! It seems to be a very healthy treat as well. My two dogs get a Sam's Big Boy Treat every night, and they have it down to a science, begging for it at exactly 6:00 p.m.! I purchased the veggie chews 5oz bag and waited with baited breath for it to arrive. But imagine my surprise when that lovely bag only had three chews in it! This made it very difficult to use since my house has 5 dogs in it, and you can't give to one without the others wanting some as well. Also, the chews do not last that long at all, about 5 minutes for the small guys in my house (20 pounds, 10 pounds and 8 pounds). For my larger guys (75 pounds each) it was a few chews and gone. I will say it is a good treat for dogs with allergies, and it did work ok with my two with bad sensitive stomachs, but for the price/amount you get/chew time it really isn't worth it. Maybe if I get these again, will try the small treat size, but other then that, not something I would get again.

I was really excited to give these to my dog as sweet potatoes are really healthy, but she didn't like them at all. They did look a little shriveled and sad, yet I'm put money down that dogs I've owned in the past would have loved them. My dog must not be a veggie girl. If your dog is picky she may not like them. I'd give them a try anyway though because, at least to me, giving a dog a sweet potato slice seems a lot healthier than constant meat treats (dogs are omnivores they need their veggies just like you).

I love the natural thing,, and all 3 of our Yorkies LOVE these as treats! while i cut them into TINY bits for little treats ,, as i have one overeater who will inhale an entire fry,,I am using the bits as a special treat for when they go potty in the right place (we're potty trained indoors but using a new potty) and they know EXACTLY where Mom keeps those treats,,they'll now go potty and come running,, looking up at where i keep the tiny treats lying on the counter here! its working well!!

The larger ones in the bag will entertain my 15 pound jack/beagle mix for 30 mintues....great when a distraction is needed (or for a break from the bully stick/flossie). Pieces break smooth (no crumbs on floor) and I never see any leftovers- obviously a favorite!

I used this product by breaking off pieces for my Dacschund. It took a few tries for her to eat it & then she got "sick". I didn't put the two together so I gave it to her again & reluctantly, she ate again b/c I gave no other option for a treat. She "vomitted" again. So, I don't give it to her. She is finicky though & my godchild has a dacshcund, I gave him some to try with his dog & "Poco" loves them, from what I hear. Maybe it was just Daisy & she's allergic to the treats or something. I hae no clue. I know she's never thrown up over a treat before, though.

I hold about a 4 inch fry (break to size if necessary) for my 7 mo old Cairn Terrier. He loves the taste and eats the fry up quickly even tho the small pieces he chews off get sticky when wet. I'm afraid he may swallow large pieces if I don't monitor him, thus the holding, and worry he may choke or get a blockage because he is a voracious chewer. I do see small pieces pass in his stool so I know they're going through his system okay. I tried the larger chewies and he became quite frustrated with holding them so I gave them away to our larger, neighbor dogs (who are enjoying them). Sweet potatoes are healthy and non-allergenic so they make great treats!

I feed each of my dogs one treat everyday. I get the same response from them as I would get with traditional animal-based treats. These veggie-based treats are ultimately much better for their health. The yams have a great sweet potato smell and chewy texture.

I have two Pugs who are both diabetic and one is blind. Being diabetic they are limited to the type of treats allowed. This is the perfect snack/treat for our "babies." I have always fed my dogs home cooked foods and now feed raw as well. However with all the recent pet food recalls I am extra careful with the treats I buy. Not only do they have to be healthy but they have to be prepared in healthy and clean facility. With the Sam's Yams I have no worries!!! Nothing added to them. Just a healthy sweet potato and my dogs love them!! My Sheltie can eat one within 30 minutes but it takes my little Yorkie a couple of days. Which is fine by me!! Besides the homemade treats I make for them Sam's Yams have been a main stay for my dogs. My dogs don't LOVE these, but they take them, and I do find them chewing on them. There seems to be no other downside to this product. It is healthy, safe, not messy, and inexpensive. Try some before you buy out the store -- in case your dog turns his nose up completely. My dogs dropped them and then came back to them later. I plan to keep some on hand.

I discovered these because my dog has a ton of food allergies and it's very hard to find chew treats for her because of this. My dog was reluctant at first when I presented her with the chew but after several sniffs and a couple hours of pretending that she didn't want anything to do with it, she went back and devoured it in about 15 minutes. Finally, I have found a chew treat that takes her longer than 1 minute to eat and that works with her multiple food allergies.

These are great for my lab, and the Jack Russell. The Bichon has a hard time trying to chew it, since he has a very small mouth.

Our eight year old Yorkie loves this treat. When we give it to her she marches around the house to find the best place to settle down and start the "chew". She doesn't stop until the piece is finished. She digests it very well, which is always a plus, and her teeth look really clean since she has been chewing them.

My three mutts all love them and I am happy to oblige. I get the giant ones but break it up (its not easy) for the smaller dogs. I like giving the Yams b/c it is 100% untouched and natural and they have to work at it a little bit, unlike biscuits and cookies they wolf down in 1 second.

at first my dog wasn't sure of these treats. She accepted it and let it stay by her so the cats wouldn't get it. She finally tried it and ate the entire think in no time. I like that you can break them into smaller pieces. Now my dog accepts these treats and runs off and eats them

My Cavalier King Charles Spaniel is the perfect dog, but she has a sensitive digestive track. This is the perfect dog treat because it is pure vegetable and provides plenty of roughage in my dog's diet. For me, it's a better choice than other popular dog treats: rawhide (which is not recommended by my breeder); natural chicken and duck strips (give my dog diarrhea and experts say limiting protein extends their lives); processed treats (not as healthy as something that's all natural). My dog enjoys these whenever we are eating as a supplement to her daily kibble.

My two female great danes love these. One gobbles her's down in about 3 minutes and the other sucks on it and savors it for about 15 minutes. I never feel bad giving them these treats because they're all natural and so healthy.

My Shih Tzu, who cannot chew rawhide, loves these. It takes him about an hour of steady chewing to get through one, though he usually chews a bit, drops it for awhile, then picks it up again over a period of a few hours. For a larger dog, however, I suspect these would get chewed up pretty quickly.

Not messy, doesn't stain. Doesn't last long with aggressive chewers, but they love them. Much better for them than rawhide for about the same cost.

These treats are great in that they are exactly what they claim - just sweet potato. The only negative I have experienced is that they don't last that long, so it is more of a treat than a chew. My dog is old and is missing quite a few teeth, and even she can finish a large one off in a minute or less. They are perfect for dogs on allergic diets when they cannot have additional proteins outside of their regular food. I will definitely buy these regularly.

I initially got these for my LC Chi with allergies, but they turned out to be great for my 9 yr old w/no bottom teeth! She sucks on it until it softens up and then is able to chew on it. It is so neat to see her get so wiggly over getting a chew again. It makes me happy to see her so thrilled.

My dogs seem to love these treats. I love the fact that they are all natural and made only from sweet potato-- one of the top ten super foods. I also love that they are easily digestible. To my dogs, these are more like a big treat than a chew. They don't come close to lasting as long Zuke's Z-Ridge chews, but my dogs gobble up Zuke's within a couple of minutes.

My American Eskimo is a meat eater. She loves meats and doesn't like hardly anything that doesn't taste like meat. Well, I was shocked to find that one day she loved sweet potatoes. One treat I bought had sweet potato in the middle and she gobbled it up. I wondered if there were anymore treats with sweet potato and imagine my surprise when I found a treat that was just sweet potato and it was basically veggie rawhide! Well I gave it to my dog and I held it in my hand for a little while as she licked it and bit it. She wasn't too sure about it first but after a while I let the treat go and she went at it. She loves them and I'm glad they are a nutritious treat.

I was surprised at how much my Poodle and Jack Russell loved this product! I feel that it's safer for them to have this rather than rawhide and that it's actually nutritious! I found these while looking for some healthy, all natural treats. These are 100% dehydrated sweet potato. My dogs are large so we bought the "big boyz" size. My dogs took to them immediately. They enjoy them very much. No mess at all. The only gripe I have is that they do not last very long- maybe 2 minutes- but this may vary with the voraciousness of your dog's appetite!

My dogs love this product. I feel good about feeding these treats to my dogs since there is zero fat and no additives. My dogs and their play mates think I'm giving them actual chews. The yam jerkey does a greate job keeping them occupied and healthy at the same time.
