This product has transformed giving three pills per day from a very difficult process for both the cat and her family to a very easy and happy event. She thinks she is getting a special treat and gobbles up
the pill pocket and her medication with no fuss and great joy.

Ok for pills but not capsules

Best Uses:
Daily Care

My cats like both flavors;however, it is only good for a tiny pill & not made for capsules & one of my cats refuses to eat it as if she can smell whats in it. Its a good idea but cats are more difficult than dogs when it comes to giving them medication. I wish it was more effective.

Only Natural Pet Store Response:Many pet parents administering remedies that come in capsule form will pull the capsule apart and administer the powdered contents to their pet, usually mixing it with some food. This may be an option for the remedy or medication you are administering - check with your vet if you are not sure.

These are not the same pill pockets!
By AlyssaVerified Purchaser from Rochester, NY on 9/5/2008

FYI to all:
They changed the formula, as well as the packaging on these Greenies pill pockets.
I don't know how they are getting away with this--passing off one product for a different one.
Is Heinz ketchup the same as store brand, but they just neglect to tell you? I think not.
The old pockets were great--generously-sized, fresh and nicely squishy (that's a technical term, folks).
They came in the foil pouch--the salmon-colored and gold one for fish and chicken flavors, respectively.
The new kind are completely different.
They stink!
They are crumbly and inadequately-sized. They might be okay for a treat, but don't work anymore for their intended purpose.
And what's especially aggravating is no notice was given about the change, before or since.
I see all the reviews on here are pre-August 2008 which is when the switch was made.
And I can't find any of the old pill pockets anywhere!
Big bummer, dude!

Great Concept

Pros:
My finicky cat approved
Cons:
Did not hide the scent
Best Uses:
Short-Term Care
Describe Yourself:
Long-time Pet Owner
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

These are a great idea, unfortunately I was either trying to administer small hard pills that my cat kept spitting out or very fragrant multi vitamin tablets that I crumbled up to make smaller in order to hide which my cat wouldn't come near. But my cat originally liked the taste of these and she is very finicky!

I have tried so many ways to give my cat medication. I even recently had a pharmacy add fish flavor to them but to no avail. He would freak out and it became a big ordeal every time I had to medicate him, which stressed us both out. However, this product allowed my cat to take his meds with ease!

Pros:
Easy To Administer, Effective, Gentle, Great taste, No Side Effects
Best Uses:
Treat Specific Illnesses
Describe Yourself:

My cat actually asks for her pill pockets, meowing loud, in a demanding way for them. It is so easy to give pills using this method. My cat has HCM, requiring her to have her medication daily and then her aspirin twice a week. I do not have to struggle to give her meds. I would highly recommend this for anyone whose cat needs medication.

After trying all different kinds of holds, foods, tricks to get my cats to take medicine, I couldn't believe how easy it was with these pockets. They just sit at my feet and ate it like it was a treat. I am definitely going to use them again, and, let my vet know about them.
Thank you.

For picky cats that refuse everything

My cat is 20 years old, and refuses everything, but she will take her daily anti-thyroid meds with these. My Vet recommended them, and I was very doubtful. But to my surprise, she gobbles them up. If I had known they were made by GREENIES, I'd have purchased them long ago.

He loves his "Tigger Treats"!
By AndyVerified Purchaser from Minneapolis, MN on 4/16/2008
Pros:
Easy To Administer, Effective
Cons:
Some Iffy Ingredients
Best Uses:
Daily Care
Describe Yourself:
Long-time Pet Owner
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

After our cat was diagnosed with congestive heart failure we had to find a way to administer his pills. We first tried a brand of soft treat to put his pills in but we didn't like the ingredients and he sometimes spit his pill out while eating the treat. There are some ingredients in these treats that I don't like (i.e. wheat gluten, salt, etc), but Tigger loves them and there is no more spitting out pills! I do split them in half though or they can be a bit big for him, he's picky that way. But he thinks he's getting extra treats that way anyhow. He loves both of the flavors, that he's not picky about!

When I found out my cat has HCM I worried about giving the necessary medication she needs. I was recommended to pill pockets by her vet. Wow. What a great idea. I no longer worry. She looks forward to her pill pockets. Giving her meds is no problem at all. You can form the pocket around the pill so easily. The pliable shape is excellent. She does not stress out about her meds and neither do I.

Pros:
Easy To Administer, Effective, Gentle, No Side Effects

These Pill Pockets make it effortless to give my cats their meds. My cats think they are getting a treat and don't even know they are taking the meds they use to spit out. It's a win-win thing. I also use them to administer flea pills to a homeless cat colony I take care of and I couldn't do it any other way.

After losing his companion of 10 years to congestive heart failure, my remaining cat was diagnosed with a different heart condition. He gets 3 pills every morning and wakes me up looking for his treat. He even begs while I'm preparing it. Pill pockets made what could have been a very traumatic daily task something we both look forward to. Thank you!

This pockets are wonderful!! Getting larger pills down is much easier now, but you do have to "work" the pocket around the pill, as only a tiny pill will actually fit in the pocket. I love the pliability of the treats and will buy again.

These little pockets are a life-saver! My female cat has urinary tract infections somewhat regularly. I started off getting these with antibiotic pills (after several days of holding my poor cat down, forcing the pill in her mouth and then holding her until she swallowed it so I didn't find it spit out on the floor somewhere). After she was done with her medicine, I started giving her an herbal that will hopefully prevent bouts of urinary tract issues. No matter the size of the pill, these pockets are amazing. You just put the pill in and then squeeze the pocket around the pill until its covered. My cat loves the taste of the pocket and actually chews up the pill with the pocket without complaint! I love these!

Our cat had a heart attack. He is on daily medicine. We tried having it specially formulated---now I know what foaming at the mouth looks like. We tied the injector thing---he bit the end off of it and got very wary of letting us near him. These treat pockets have been a blessing. He loves them!! In case you are wondering, he was 9 when he had the attack. His cardiologist gave him 2-6 months to live. That was 22 months ago. These pill treats have allowed us to spend a lot of extra time with our beloved cat.
