Fleabusters Unique Borate Powder Has Many Important 'Flea-Killing' Features

  • The Rx for Fleas Plus powder is milled to be extremely fine and is also statically charged.
  • The 'fine' powder allows for easy installation while brushing into the carpet and for light application (very small amounts need to be applied for effectiveness).
  • The 'statically charged' powder provides a clinging effect to carpet fibers. This allows very little to be removed by vacuuming, thereby providing long-lasting protection. It attaches to the flea larvae as they wiggle by. The effectiveness of killing (dehydrating) flea larvae is greatly increased.
  • The Rx for Fleas Plus also has a neutral pH of 7.0. While being very safe for carpets, the neutral pH is actually more important in a pest control sense by not causing the targeted pest (flea) to be repelled from the powder. Roaches, ants, fleas, etc., can sense and avoid an alkaline or acidic substance, but crawl right through the neutral pH material.

Fleabusters Effectiveness Comes With Great Consideration for Safety

  • Borate powders are much safer than most liquid pesticide alternatives.
  • When installed properly, the exposure to people and pets is very minimal.
  • Fleabusters Rx for Fleas Plus is 33% less toxic than pure boric acid powder products!

Fleabusters Powder Provides More Carpet Area Coverage

  • The Fleabusters label identifies the maximum allowable coverage for the container size (3 lbs.). This means in 900 square feet you can't use more than 3 lbs., but you can use less!
  • Fleabusters service company averages less than 3 pounds of powder to treat the average home of living room, halls, stairs, family room and 3 bedrooms - five average size rooms!
  • Because the powder is so fine it only requires a small amount applied everywhere to be effective. More is not better!
  • Only a few microscopic crystals are all that's necessary to kill the flea larvae.

About Borates

Borate is a popular ingredient found in many natural pest control products. It is a material made from Boron; a compound found in nature and used in many everyday products like soap and laundry detergents. Borate is often misunderstood since technically it is a pesticide as it does kill pests; however it is not harmful or toxic to its users like synthetic pesticides are.

In pest control products, borate is found in powder form. This powder serves as an agent that is extremely abrasive to an insect’s exoskeleton and dehydrates it from within. It is effective because the insect cannot build a resistance to it, and it affects insects at all life stages. Results may take a few days to become apparent, but the product will continue to work for up to a year. Borate is odorless, colorless and has no harsh chemicals. Borate products can be applied directly to surfaces, and pose a very low risk to those in direct contact with it when used correctly.

Today using a proven pesticide is of utmost concern to consumers. Fleabusters Rx for Fleas Plus has both federal and state EPA registration (59111-1).

Important Considerations

  • It is recommended that dust-sensitive individuals not be present during treatment.
  • Any powder that does not brush in completely must be vacuumed immediately. You may resume normal vacuuming 24-48 hours following application.
  • Depending on the level of infestation, you may see residual flea activity for 2-6 weeks following application. If such activity occurs, more frequent vacuuming is recommended.
  • Remove bags from vacuum cleaner immediately after vacuuming and dispose of bags.
  • Reapplication is necessary following cleaning of treated carpets and/or rugs.
  • If you have further questions please contact us.
1. Clear Areas for Treatment
Remove all small items such as shoes and toys from carpeted areas, including closet floors and under beds.
2. Cover or Remove
Cover electronic equipment such as VCR's and computers with a sheet or plastic. Cover aquariums and remove all pets. Dust-sensitive individuals should not be present during treatment.
3. Vacuum
Vacuum all carpeted surfaces thoroughly prior to treatment in order to improve the effectiveness of Rx for Fleas Plus. Remove cushions from furniture, clean and vacuum wells.
4. Apply Rx for Fleas Plus
Tilt container carefully as powder will flow freely. Treat one room at a time. Sprinkle powder lightly over all carpeted areas, including closet floors and under furniture. Pay special attention to your pets' favorite resting and walking areas.
5. Brush in Thoroughly
Slowly brush powder into carpet with a push broom. Brush in one direction to evenly distribute powder. Then, us a slow back and forth motion until no visible powder remains.
6. Treat Furniture
Remove cushions from furniture. Sprinkle powder very lightly into wells only. Work powder deep into wells with a hand brush until powder disappears. Remove any excess powder from furniture.

Be careful using it

By Iryna

from Chicago, IL

Comments about Fleabusters Rx for Fleas Plus Powder:

I followed instructions and read a lot of reviews to make sure the product is safe for my family as I have 3 years old toddler. Per instructions, it states it is safe to use around kids. After I applied powder on my carpets, I had to book a hotel room to spend the night with my family because it was hard to breath in the house. Next day I vacuumed all my carpets twice to make sure the powder is partially removed. At 5am I was woken up from hearing my toddler had had time breathing, like having some spasms in his throat. My sister also mentioned having difficulty breathing. I had to call 911 b/c my baby was nonresponsive, drooling saliva, and gasping for air. Non of my family members have any respiratory problems. Thanks God, everything turned out fine. BUT, I had to remove ALL my carpets and place new hardwood flooring.
Conclusion: Be careful using this product. Boric acid might seem harmless, but in large amount it can be dangerous even in totally healthy individuals.

Comments about Fleabusters Rx for Fleas Plus Powder:

I have been using this product in my home since my Vet recommended it after trying almost everything sold over the counter. Its a miracle and last for years as long as you don't get the area its applied in wet. If you have a big flea problem once you apply it you will notice it gets worse, seems the fleas are in a frenzy as they are slowly drying up and dying, Give it one week and this should calm down, apply product and brush well into carpet and furniture...wash all animal beds and blankets and throws in the area of the pet. Best to bath or dip animals if heavy infestation, fleas live in the environment and feed on the animals, owners too when fleas are hatching. Vacuum after a week....you will notice decreased flea activity and may see them laying dried up dead. Each week vacuum you will remove all and it even kills the eggs. works well on ticks too. Added perk...when your animals lay on the carpet some flea buster dust will get on them...this helps to keep them off them also. I just love the product. I apply it once every two or three years as long as i don't need to shampoo the carpet. I have a rainbow vacuum and it does a great job so shampooing is avoided, more spot washing done. I find I walk fleas into my home from others with flea problem not yet under control, I will still be covered going on now 3 yrs. Highly recommend it and when used as product suggests you will be flea free with out harmful chemicals. Good luck and give this a try!

Comments about Fleabusters Rx for Fleas Plus Powder:

I've been using this product for 15-20 years in every home I've been in. I've never had a flea or roach problem in all that time. A little bit goes a long way. It takes about 2-3 weeks to see a difference but it is worth the wait. I have never had to buy commercial flea products, they are a waste of money and don't work long at all. I lived in my last home for 10 years and never even had to reapply it and that has been the case in each place I've lived. If you are using the commercial products and buying the drops and preventatives your vet sells, YOU ARE WASTING YOUR MONEY!!!!

Plz be careful when using this product. I purchased 2 containers because of fleas our Pom brought in. After applying to whole upstairs (2 flooors) of home I got very sick!! Lungs became so congested to the point of back hurting where my lungs are. Lymph swelled up dramatically & took a long time to recover. I used it very sparingly & threw out second container I was going to use in basement . THIS IS NOT GOOD FOR YOU TO BREATH! Do not use without a mask! Should have listened to my husband who worked in a lab & stated how bad this is.

I do not own pets so imagine to my horror my room became infested with fleas! I dont know where it came from but i had suffered for weeks until fleabusters powder was recommended to me. I applied it EVERYWHERE my work, room and even my car. I got every crack and crevice. Vacuumed and mopped and kept dusting the powder everywhere. I thought it would never work. The fleas were literally jumping off of me. I cleaned everything. On the second week they dissapeared. I dont know if there are another round of eggs lying in wait but i keep dusting just in case. This product has not been toxic to me. It is perfectly fine. Be patient but be meticulous. Get ALL THE CRACKS and CREVICES you can find..even the ones in the closets. Trash bag wrap all your clothes. Im so relieved!
