Daily Feeding Guide

When switching your cat’s diet, the change should be made gradually, by replacing the current food with increasing portions of Dick Van Patten's Natural Balance L.I.D. Limited Ingredient Diets. The change should be completed after 5 to 7 days. The maintenance of proper body weight is most important for your cat’s health. Consult your veterinarian for specific weight recommendations for your cat. Remember, fresh clean water should be available at all times!

Food intake requirement may vary depending on age, activity, and environment, and should be adjusted accordingly

Weight of Cat (lbs) Serving Size
2 – 4 1/8 – 1/4 cup*
5 – 9 1/2 – 2/3 cup*
10 – 14 3/4 – 1 cup*
15 – 20 1 1/4 – 1 3/4 cups*

*Standard 8 oz. Measuring Cup

Kittens - Newly weaned kittens can be fed moistened Dry Cat Food. You may want to add a small amount of Canned Cat Food for ease of feeding.

Adult Cat – Adults should be fed either once or twice per day. It is suggested to start with the amounts recommended in the Table. Energy requirements vary with environmental conditions, temperature and activity of your cat. The amount of food should always be adjusted to suit your cat’s needs.

Gestating and lactating Queens – These special case felines will consume more, usually 1/2 to 2 cups daily

Older Cat - As your cat begins to age, his/her energy expenditure will decrease. Decreasing the amount of food accordingly will allow for the maintenance of proper body weight for less active cat. Older cats are sometimes more reluctant to eat hard foods.

Comments about Natural Balance L.I.D. Dry Cat Food:

Since being diagnosed with Eosinophilic Granuloma and Food Allergies, my cat has eaten Natural Balance LID Green Pea/Chicken or Green Pea/Duck dry food. Several months ago, I noticed the return of crusty sores along his spine and rear legs, with inflammation along his lips and tongue. Last night, upon reviewing the ingredient list, I noticed the company added Salmon Oil to both products! Not good for a cat with fish allergies!! When I contacted Natural Balance, they told me they were not required to advertise the change on the product bag because they did not actually change the formulation. Sad, very sad...my poor cat has suffered because they were not "required" by law. How many consumers recheck ingredient listings every time they re-purchase their pets food?

Comments about Natural Balance L.I.D. Dry Cat Food:

I read many reviews before purchasing this food for my 3 year old cat. I had no idea the vitamins she was missing until I read the information provided here. Our cat was OCD when it came to grooming. So much so that she was licking some places bald. She had developed sores on her back accompanied with severe dandruff, shedding and hairballs. She has improved greatly within 2 weeks of eating the Duck and Pea natural cat food. We are forever grateful.

I put my 4 month old girl on this food.
She was adopted at the local shelter.
I was feeding her super market food and she had the
Stinkies farts. Its been 2 weeks with this food ; Salmon pea.
My nose is happy. The bad is i have to mix it with wet so she
Can eat it. She prefers wet. Im feeding 50/50 every 12 HOURS
I leave a little dry for snack but not much is eaten.

My cat is very particular about his food. Since I put him on this dry food he eats more and maintains his weight. I supplement him with wet natural food too. Before this food, he wasn't eating enough. I recommend this food but be aware of the status of all pet foods for your pet on a regular basis!

Even though others had mentioned their cat liking this grain free duck and pea formula, my cat would not eat one morsel. It didn't even smell good to her. I have changed dry cat foods many times and this is the first one she wouldn't touch. She has digestive problems and my vet told me to get something like this food. Did NOT work!

Comments about Natural Balance L.I.D. Dry Cat Food:

Our large 9 yr. old male tabby is a special member of our family.
More than 3 years ago he started manifesting allergies - tests came back identifying his wounds with yeast. Our kitty was constantly agitated with itching, licking off all the fur on his belly, and scratching until deep wounds scarred his sweet face.
Our well-meaning vet suspected food allergy and thought it was due to protein that he had since become sensitive to. After trying to help him with courses of allergy meds with steroids, changing his diet 4 times to expensive "prescription" foods having different sources of protein, then courses of anti-B's(also came with their own form of side-effects) were given to deal with "possible" infection, None of these measures aided his problems and even made things worse.
We started giving him tiny pieces (1/32) of a tablet of the Phytostan by Integrative Therapeutics each day to target the yeast overgrowth in his gut then we changed his food over to the Natural Balance LID Salmon Grain-Free dry cat food.
Needless to say, we are happy that our cat is well and entirely better. From itching and scabs to a healthy coat and back to his clever self, we are thankful for an answer to our cat's needs.
So grateful to the Lord God for Only Natural Pet Company offering healthy real foods for pets.
We hope to introduce more wet food into his diet soon now that he is doing so well. We want to give him a good balance between the dry food that he needs to keep him satisfied and the wet that is more like fresh meat.

Comments about Natural Balance L.I.D. Dry Cat Food:

L.I.D. is a great dry food. I had been using EVO grain free, but 2 of my cats threw up fairly frequently. Also, I needed to limit protein forms for my oldest cat with IBD. Both she and my young cat with digestive troubles have done very well on LID. It greatly reduced vomiting for them, and my other 2 cats love the taste of it, too. I'm sticking with this food from here on out.

Comments about Natural Balance L.I.D. Dry Cat Food:

My 12 year old tabby cat has been struggling with what I think is IBD for many months now. I used to feed her dry kibble from the grocery store but was told I needed to get her on grain-free wet food. Well, she refused to eat the wet food. I put her on a grain-free kibble and it helped a lot with her loose, smelly stools and vomitting but not 100%. I decided to look for a grain-free kibble made of an unusual protein source. This was the only such food I could find. Thankfully, my picky kitty likes it and it seems to be helping her a lot. We are only about one month in, and I'm still waiting to see if she'll gain some of her weight back, but I am cautiously optimistic. I hope this company will make other grain-free dry foods from unusual protein sources. But in any event, thank you for this food!!!
