I have an older cat that has health problems so really didnt want to use the tradtitional posion to kill his fleas. I tried this product and it did the trick. It didnt get rid of every flea, because I didnt use the whole dose at once, but I only found fevy few after use. He quit digging and scratching. Before he had scabs from that, but now does not.

I used this product on both of my cats. One was fine, but the other's eyes immediately started to water and run. As a result, she bolted from me and I was unable to administer the whole dose. Both cats look like they've rolled in hair gel that won't go away. It's been two days and they are still greasy and wet. The smell of very strong, so imagine that smell on two cats. It isn't an unpleasant smell, but I am sure that my cats would rather not have the odor.

Natural Defense CAN be easy to apply but I have very finicky cats who can't sit still for more than 2 seconds. So it was a bit hard for me to do it with them moving around alot. I never worried about it before because they lived indoors and had no contact with outside animals but when I moved my sister in law and her dogs around a lot and I didn't want my cats to catch a random flea or tick so I grabbed this because it was natural and I don't want anything that can make my cats sick. But this only seemed to work with my kitten. I put it on her and aside from the smell she didn't seem to care that it was there. But as soon as I put it on my older cat she began to have a bad reaction to it. I don't know if it's because she's older and a bit more sensitive or because she just has an allergic reaction to it.

I refuse to use pesticides on my kitties. I don't understand how it can be justified to repeatedly apply poisons on animals and not expect negative health consequences. The warning labels state to wash your skin immediately if you come into contact with it. Really? What about the animals? Since when are they immune to poisons? I experienced a horrible outbreak with fleas about 10 months ago. I have been using this product ever since. All of my kitties (15) live outdoors and they no longer have fleas, and because they have no fleas, they no longer have tape worms, plus I think it's keeping the mosquitoes away. The product will kill the flea within seconds if it comes into direct contact with it (kinda fun to watch), but this isn't a poison and you have to have patience. In the beginning, I applied once every two weeks for about two months, and now I apply about once a month. Plus it smells wonderful; it's a combination of peppermint, clove and lemongrass oils. It works and I highly recommend it.

I did a trial run on my dogs and was impressed with the product. I was quite surprised by the number of flea carcasses I found. Yes, it definitely has a very strong smell similar to chai latte or Christmas at Bed, Bath and Beyond and left me concerned my seven cats would react badly.

I applied it earlier today and was very surprised that I got very little reaction from any of them. Granted, they are experienced Frontline users and I got the usual 'WTH did ya do that for' face afterwards but even the Chicken Little of the bunch who screamed and ran as soon as she saw me coming towards her was totally fine as soon as the application process was over. No one tried to lick it, no foaming at the mouth as others have reported, and all went back to normal within minutes. The product seemed to last just as long as Frontline on my dogs and at least I felt like I could pet them without getting something toxic all over myself. This product does leave a larger oily spot than the traditional applications, but it faded on the dogs quickly enough.

I would definitely recommend this product.

I wanted it so much to work. I don't know if this year was really bad for fleas or not but my cats are still scratching.

Natural Defense has been a reliable tick and flea product for my pets. We use have a dosage every two weeks. Put the remainder in a jar, upright, until ready to use again. Works well for us that way, not as big an oily spot if you use the whole thing at once. Love the smell!

This isn't a pesticide so you won't get the same fast results you get with the more potent flea treatments. It definitely works; it just takes a little longer. My first application of Sentry was followed by a second application two-weeks after the first, and then a third three-weeks after the second; now it's just maintenance. There are many things I like about the product and one of the most wonderful ones is the fact that my cats don't go haywire when I apply it. I really think they like the way it smells; they don't run from it. In fact, they just kinda sit there when I'm done. What? Calm cats? Is she crazy? Yes I am, but the product works. ;-)
