• Seeing the amount of packaging used to ship and receive materials, we took the needed steps to reduce, reuse and recycle as much as possible. This means we reuse every box we can (just take a look at the next package you receive), we protect your order with biodegradable, non-toxic, corn starch packing peanuts, and limit as much packaging material as possible. And we are always thinking of new and innovative ways to ship as we move forward.
• In order to cut down on landfill waste, we’ve been striving towards becoming a Zero Waste facility. This includes everything from composting our coffee grounds to taking bubble wrap and old computers to CHaRM, Boulder’s Center for Hard-to-Recycle Materials. We also participate in EcoCycle, a program which lets us compost and recycle almost all of our waste. Our office dogs also take part! We've partnered with Pet Scoop to remove all of the dog waste produced by our office & retail store dogs and EnviroWagg, which composts the dog waste into nutrient rich soil.
• To have a positive effect on our community, our Retail Store always puts their greenest foot forward. All of the indoor lighting features ECObulbs, which use 75% less energy than standard 60 watt bulbs. Plus, all of the secondary lighting is set to timers and motion sensors. The beautiful hardwood floors are made from easily renewable bamboo and even the bulk treat bags are biodegradable.
• We have gone so far as to promote a culture of sustainability throughout the company. We limit printed materials, and when they are printed we use 100% recycled post-consumer stock. Employees are offered an annual bus pass and the offices are filled with almost as many bikes as dogs. And our Green Team can often be found on “Poop Pick-Up” outings.
• Most importantly, we work with a supportive, dedicated group of manufacturers to bring you the healthiest, most earth friendly products available. Our Only Natural Pet brand products are made with all natural ingredients. We offer a wide selection of products from our neighbors here in Boulder, like Organic Pet Superfood and In Clover, limiting the fossil fuels needed for shipping. We are proud of our large selection of Organic and Eco-Friendly products…and we’re adding New ones all the time!

Of course, we use the strictest evaluations on Only Natural Pet brand. All of our Only Natural Pet products are 100% guaranteed because we believe in their quality; we use them ourselves! We are members of the NASC (National Animal Supplement Council), an organization founded with the mission to “promote the health and well-being of…animals that are given animal health supplements [and] to protect and enhance the integrity of the animal health product industry.” To maintain our membership, we must adhere to their strict guidelines, including an independent audit of our facilities that featured a line by line inspection, and an intensive review of our products and articles.

For food and treats from outside manufacturers, we do our homework! We are passionately committed to finding the best foods on the market and strive to include products that are: organic, grain-free, allergy friendly, free-range, hormone free, antibiotic free, humanely raised and sustainably grown and harvested. Most of our products are sourced and manufactured in the USA or Canada. If a food or treat is produced in China, we will not consider it unless it is made in a USDA-certified facility or its manufacturer can provide written evidence about its safety and third party testing.

The outside vitamins & supplements and holistic care products we carry must offer full disclosure of ingredients; if we don’t know what’s in it, we won’t carry it. They must be completely natural products that have food derived nutrients, organic or naturally grown herbs or botanicals, no fillers, no additives, no artificial ingredients and no questionable chemicals or pharmaceuticals.

And when it comes to beds, scratchers, furniture, collars, leashes, apparel and toys: we’re not playing around. We strongly favor eco-friendly products (recycled, recyclable, organic, sustainably produced, fairly traded, and locally made) and “green” manufacturers (companies with similar practices to our own).
