Why your pet needs this:
Fleas, ticks, mosquitoes, biting flies and their kind are a nuisance for everyone in the family, but especially for our more vulnerable animal companions. Cats and dogs can’t protect themselves and they rely on us to keep them safe from insect parasites. Although pesticide sprays and squeeze-on products are one quick-fix solution, for most of us, the risks of using these toxic chemicals on and around our human and animal loved ones are just not worth it.
Fortunately, there is a safe and effective alternative to keep those nasty insects at bay. Only Natural Pet Herbal Defense Spray is a natural insect repellent spray that's safe for dogs and cats - and their people! It contains no DEET, organophosphates, or other dangerous pesticides, and it can even be used with puppies and kittens too young for other flea remedies.
Why it works:
Only Natural Pet Herbal Defense Spray uses lemongrass, citronella, neem oil, catnip, and other natural herbal extracts to keep away every variety of annoying insect pest. Most people and pets don't mind the herbal-citrus scent, but insects definitely do! It keeps mosquitoes and biting flies off your pet's vulnerable ears, saving days of scratching and discomfort from itchy bites. Spraying your dog and your pant legs before your daily walk or a hike will deter ticks and reduce your risk of picking up those disease carrying hitchhikers.
Of course, you can use this natural repellent as needed with outdoor cats and with dogs before a trip to the dog park, doggy day care, training class, etc., to minimize the chances of bringing home fleas, the worst insect enemy of all. Our customers agree that this herbal spray is gentle, and best of all, effective for keeping nasty insects off their pets (please see their comments below this product description).
Our Herbal Defense Spray also works well as part of a holistic flea prevention or treatment plan. If you are preparing for flea season or already involved in a battle with fleas, please see our article, The Natural Approach to Flea Control, for helpful tips and suggestions. We've also grouped our natural flea remedies into convenient kits based on the severity of your flea situation to save you time and money in gathering your weapons to win the war on fleas, safely and naturally. Why you should go natural:
Toxic chemical pesticides have been known to cause immediate health crises in some dogs and cats, and perhaps worse, these chemicals can circulate and accumulate in our pets' bodies, doing unseen damage to vital organs that may go undetected for years. And then there is the damage these chemical residues can do to our children, ourselves, and the environment. Pesticides used in the home and yard leave residue in our systems, too, and many pesticide residues end up in our water supply, with their lingering presence detectable in soil and water samples for many years, and perhaps indefinitely.
Current research findings suggest that beyond their immediate toxic impact on natural ecosystems, many chemical residues break down into compounds that mimic hormones and may wreak havoc on wildlife populations that are exposed to them.In many parts of the country, insect pests like fleas are becoming immune to the pesticides being used against them, creating "super pests" that become even tougher to eradicate and require even more toxic solutions to kill them. Using natural products to keep insects away prevents this problem.
Our Only Natural Pet Herbal Defense products are a natural line of insect repellent spray and bath products that are non-toxic, and safe to use for dogs, cats, and humans. These top quality natural insect repellants use herbal ingredients to safely and effectively make your pets less attractive to insect parasites, without the dangerous effects of those toxic chemical products. Herbal Defense and our other natural products for protection from fleas and ticks give you peace of mind, as well as great results.
When fighting fleas, especially a severe infestation, it is always more effective to approach the problem from more than one angle. Here are some other strategies that you may want to consider along with Only Natural Pet Herbal Defense Spray:
- Only Natural Pet All-in-One Flea Remedy is the one solution to rid your dogs, cats, carpet, furniture, and pet bedding of any annoying insects.
- Consider our Herbal Defense Shampoo and Conditioner to keep your pet's coat clean and soft, while repelling insect parasites.
- Many people find our Brewer's Yeast & Garlic tabs to be helpful in making their pets less attractive to fleas.
- The quality of your pet's food is an important determinant in their ability to fight fleas. A poor diet means a weaker immune system and greater attractiveness to fleas. If you are not feeding your pet a high quality, natural food, you might want to consider changing. Any of the brands sold at Only Natural Pet Store for dogs and for cats would qualify as high quality and natural.
In general the difficulty and length of time required to win a battle against a flea infestation depends on the severity of the problem and the environment in which you live.

The essential oils used in this formula are very diluted and should be well tolerated by most cats, however, a small number of cats may be sensitive to them, so use the spray lightly, particularly on the first application. For cats that dislike having spray applied directly on them, spray Herbal Defense lightly on a cloth and then rub the cloth over your cat, or apply sparingly with a cotton ball around ears or other vulnerable areas, avoiding the eyes, nose, and mouth.
Discontinue use if your pet shows any change in condition that concerns you, and contact your veterinarian if problem persists.
Please remember, this product is a repellant and you may use small amounts, especially before going outside. In large amounts, the essential oils may temporarily discolor white hair or fur. If you notice discoloration that you dislike on your pet, wash your dog with a shampoo or dishwashing liquid that contains detergents, as this is the most effective way to remove the oils.
