In celebration of Earth Day's 50th anniversary on April 22nd, we'd like to acknowledge the incredible work so many of the companies in our industry are doing to protect the environments and communities where they do business.

West Paw

A B-Corp and 4-time winner of the “Best for the World: Environment” award, West Paw envisions a world where business success doesn’t happen at the expense of people or the planet. To reinforce this, they handcraft 100% of their products in Bozeman, MT using eco-friendly materials with minimal waste, manufactured in a state-of-the-art, environmentally conscious building. Their products are BPA and phthalate-free, non-toxic and FDA compliant. Their “Join the Loop” program means their toys can be infinitely recycled. And they offer their community-minded employees generous wages and benefits.

Nature’s Logic

With a mission to apply the logic of nature to everything they touch, the team at Nature’s Logic, led by David Yaskulka, is focused on helping pets and the planet. The company’s recipes are all natural, avoiding the synthetic vitamin industry and reducing their impact on the environment. They use 100% natural energy to power their headquarters, make their kibble and manufacture their kibble bags. They also buy 1 KWh of renewable energy with every pound of food consumers purchase. And moving forward, they are committed to reducing the impact of their packaging by 25%, increasing their social giving program and using their advertising dollars as a force for good.

Molly Mutt’s

Focused on turning small efforts into a big impact, Molly Mutt’s mission is to minimize the amount of fabric and dog beds that end up in landfills. By creating bed duvets pet owners can stuff with towels, bedding, clothes and more, the company provides people with a way to upcycle their old fabrics, dogs with a completely washable bed and the planet with fewer cheap dog beds put in the trash. Molly Mutt remains a leader in the industry with dog bed covers that eliminate 100% of the energy and greenhouse gas emissions associated with other bedding.

Honey I’m Home

Honey I’m Home believes strong and sweet can live together in the perfect dog treat. By using human-grade, humanely-raised, and free-range water buffalo from India, the company’s sourcing policies are grounded in using sustainable and ethically-raised proteins. Their practices are built to serve dogs, humans, communities, and whole ecosystems. They also use sustainably-harvested honey in all their treats to support and protect the honey bee population worldwide.

Pet Sustainability Coalition

As the leading voice in sustainability within the pet industry, PSC’s mission is to advance business through profitable environmental and social practices. Known for its inspiring events, growing membership base of over 140 companies and its retailer-facing accreditation program, the organization is home to one of the most vibrant, innovative, sustainably-minded and forward-thinking communities of leaders in the industry.

Only Natural Pet is proud to be the first pet food and treat company in North America to become a Certified B Corporation. Since our founding in 2004, we’ve been dedicated to transparency in pet health and nutrition. Becoming a Certified B Corporation allows us to expand that transparency to our sustainability mission and goals. It’s like Fair Trade certification but for the whole business, not just a bag of coffee, or USDA Organic certification, but not just for a carton of milk.
